Default Move from 8707 to 8100

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone tried to move Password Keeper database from 8707 to 8100?

I was able to restore my database but I get message that I have to use my old password first. I'm sure I know my old password (which is in fact my current password) and even tested it again on my old Blackberry. No way to get Password Keeper open...

I also created a new 8707 backup, restored the database again, with no luck.

Alway's get the following message: "A password entry created on 'dd/mm/ccyy' is protected by an old password. Please enter the old password to convert the entry"

any suggestions?

I know a guy going through that exact same thing right now. His was a 8700c to another 8700c and he got the same message about an "original" password. Nothing seems to work. I got him 10 more tries buy using KB111145 and KB10339 on BlackBerry. But if you find a answer please let me know.

There is no such thing..... User picks a password and enters on first use of the application.

Nope. You can enter the password wrong 10 times and it will wipe the password keeper database.

You can make a backup of the device, including password keeper. Then when you get the new BB, just use the Backup/Restore Advanced to move just the password keeper database to the new BB.

No Mac users can not backup their password keepers.

Default Password Keeper

After entering a password 9 times, on the 10th time of entering a password on the password keeper, your entire Blackberry will be wiped cleaned and will be restored to the original default Blackberry functions. Believe me, it happened it to me and that is why I no longer use the password keeper.

Default Password Keepers

Does anyone know if you can import any data into any of these password keeper programs. I am moving from a Treo and had all my passwords in a database on the Treo and would love to be able to move them over without reentering them all. The database program (HanDBase) on the Treo allowed export to Access, so I could have them in a variety of formats for importing into something else.

I don't know of any import/export capability with the RIM password keeper other than restoring a backup or using switch device wizard with another blackberry. Don't know about third-party apps.

I use a program called SafeWallet. You should be able to export your file from HanDBase into XML format, and from there import into SafeWallet. SafeWallet is nice because it comes with a desktop version too, so you can enter new data either on your BB or desktop, and it will sync up.
