4.3 is more than 4.2. So what do you think?

This one seemed to fix the lowercase/uppercase "EDGE" issue I was having with my BB, I also haven't had to resend any messages....... yet. We'll see if that issue is fixed.

Hello again John. Thanks for your help yesterday.
I checked my Desktop manager and found I have:
Device manager 4.2.2.10
BB Manager 3.2.0.1
Application Loader 4.2.2.14
RIM Program 1.0.0.35
Should I change to what you list below? I am trying to get the internal modem to work with Blackberry Maps

Instructions for installing:

This OS will work on any GSM/GPRS/EDGE 8700c/g/v/f/r
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2 and can be downloaded from the link above or Click Here.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Bell Mobility told me that the GPS I have will not work with BBMaps unless I purchase a plan from them. When I pressed them they dsaid I may be able to find software somewhere that will make it work. Do you know of any carriers software that does allow the internal GPS to work with BBMaps so I dont have to pay for a plan?

Yes; follow the instructions carefully (do not miss the step about locating and deleting VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive) and it will work.

Just an update: This release (at least since the previous release I was running, which was the one Rogers adopted) COMPLETELY eliminated the having to re-send a message/message failed issue.

Also isn't doing the uppercase/lowercase EDGE thing like the previous release I was running either.

All-in-all, VERY happy with this release.

Default How do you get the upgrade to the BB?

I followed the instructions in the first thread and successfully downloaded the new O/S to the desktop manager which is now at 4.2.2.14. Then nothing. How do I get my BB upgraded? It is still at 4.1.0.351.

Should I skip 4.2 and go to 4.3 now?

Why do RIM make how to do all this so obscure?

Thanks for your help.

It's not obscure. Please follow ALL of the instructions in the first post.

No need for Desktop Manager 4.3.
