Question "Check SIM Card" error

Please Login to Remove!

On my Pearl every few days I'll get a Check SIM card error.

I've had the SIM card since T-Mobile was known as Voicestream in my area (2001) so could it be that the card is getting old and has been in a few too many phones by now?

Would it be worth while to replace the SIM or do you think it's the phone itself?

It wouldn't hurt to change the sim. I'm not sure about t-mobile but i know new cingular 64k sims are better than there older 32k sims, and that has happend in less time than the voicesteam/t-mobile change.

Also i hear a about a lock of sim issues because people aren't fully locking the sim door. I know this sounds stupid but people aren't making sure it snaps. If you move the wrong way or something the sim loses contact and boom. Sim error.

Hope this helps.

I know when I first got my Pearl, my sim card was sitting up not secured in. I didn't get any errors, but I figured it had to be snapped in. The T-mobile rep. installed it......figures. Make sure it's securely in. Maybe that's your issue.

If it keeps up, or gets worse take the phone into a T-Mo store and have them replace the SIM. I had a similar issue back when I had a razr, and I kept ignoring it becuase I could get the error to go away. Eventually it got worse and finally said "unreadable sim". And nothing would bring it back. And of course it happened after the stores had closed. So until they replaced the sim the phone was pretty much unusable. SIMs can go bad.
