I tried on another thread but I think it got swallowed up in another argument.

I have a circular icon which looks like an earth globe with a number 1 to the left hand side of it. It is being displayed in the same field as you would find a new email/message notification icon, missed call icon or voicemail message icon.

I have had it for ages and it won't go away. Does anyone know what it is?

Please!!

I think that is a browser Push Message. I used to get those when I would get a message about the weather (I had set up a push service to push me a message about weather updates).

Default Thanks

Found it amongst a very busy email day some time ago and have looked at it.

It is directing me to a domain which is an IP address. Can they be dangerous, viruses, spam etc?

I am inclined to just delete it.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I would delete it if you are unsure. I mean, it has been there this long without you looking at it...

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

No chance it could be from bb messenger?

No, BB Messenger uses the face. The globe is a browser message.

Don't mean to jump on your thread, but I too have a message indicator I can't figure out. The indicator looks like the upper torso and head of a person (in blue) with two red parenthesis looking lines next to his head. I'm assuming its a VM indicator, but I have no VMs. Any ideas? (8830 VZ)

That indicates a Qued website. When you are out of a data area and try to connect to a web page, BB will ask if you want to Que the page, I guess so you can connect to that page later when back in data coverage.

Its not dangerous, its a webpage you attempted to visit while you were out of data coverage and you elected to save it for later.
