No problem - AT&T had RIM encode the LBS.alx file so that AT&T Curves would not load up the "LBS" (location based services / mapping services) application into the phone. However you can change that.
On your PC, find the
"LBS.alx" file and open it in a text editor.
Search down for the comment beginning with,
"<!-- For 8800 series, hide the icon for AT&T (102)".
A couple of lines below that, you'll see one starting with,
"<fileset SystemSize="normal".
You'll see that there is a tilda ("~") in front of the vendorID "102". This is the vendorID for AT&T. The tilda means "not", and essentially tells the Application Loader to NOT load LBS/maps for any phone with a vendorID of 102.
So - you can remove the tilda, or simply change the line to read:
<fileset SystemSize="normal" Colour="True" Java="1.0" _vendorID="102" series="~8800">
Close the file. Plug your phone into your PC, fire up the Desktop Manager and Application Loader, and it should offer to load the LBS services for you into your Curve, after which the Curve will restart, and you should have BB Maps on it.
