You need an updated BWC to read chinese in emails, which your carrier may not have upgraded.. I think there are updated BES (might be in beta?) as well.. but you should be able to read chinese in the browser..

That is too bad... While I have to wait then... So is this upgrade intended for Hong Kong only, or it will be provided for US as well?

Is it possible to somehow post your emails messages to a private web page, then access that page to see those messages in Chinese? Just trying to think of a way around this limitation...

I don't think so, as in the BWC, if the system had already converted to an unknown format, you cannot read anywhere else even you forwarded to another email system.

Reporting back:

I am using this now for 7230, and found it cannot display most of the Chinese characters. So far, my best guess is it only supports UNICODE Chinese, and not other Chinese character. The Chinese inputting works perfectly.

Also, the downside is there is no simple switch between Chinese and English when you compose an message. You will have to go to Options -> Localization everytime to change the input locale. Or someone knows a quick switch? Please let me know. Thanks!

Default Mobile App to display Chinese email

pengrus,

You could try iCJKMail- a java multilingual mobile email application- to display Chinese emails on your BlackBerry. It requires Java MIDP 2.0 support, so you'd have to have an OS of 3.8 or higher. (Since it has been about a year since you last post, I'm assuming that you've probably upgraded your BlackBerry's OS.)

For more info about iCJKMail, visit www.icjk.com. Or to see screenshots and download a free trial you can go to http://www.rimroad.com/software/rim1...-rim-rim1.html

You can try our newly developed software namimail for BlackBerry Chinese viewer which is available for download freely now. The link is http://www.namikiteru.com/namimail_Chinese/index_e.htm

Please simply fill out a simple form and the download will start automatically. Please also note this evaluation copy will expire on 1/17/2006. If you have any question, please feel free to ask me. My address is [email address]

Thank you,
