Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I'm running an Exchange and BES 4.1.4.

Question:

When the some spam-filter software changes the title and header of etp.dat.
In that case, Does the Enterprises activation succeed?

No it does not. The message has to come to user's mailbox without any changes.

To get a device activated either fix your mail s/w so it leaves the etp.dat alone, or do a cabled activation either directly on the BES or via Desktop Manager

i actually prefer a cabled activation. I average about 5 activations a day with no problems. I don't have time to wait around to see if the OTA works. Sometimes takes up to 10 minutes before encryption is verified and the actvation actually starts.

Cabled activation is almost immediate. just plug in> add user> r-click> assign device. Don't have to worry about setting password, entering email and activation password and hoping the encryption email makes it to their mailbox.

We recently had a mass migration from exchange 2000 -> 2003 and BES 4.0 to 4.1. About 2000 users affected and if it weren't for the trusty old cable, it would've been a nightmare.

Having just installed DM4.3 to get the demo 8120 onto the MD's account by running 'switch device wizard' to retain settings etc, then actually I'm with you on that.

DM4.3 is real bloatware stuff and is very slow..but has some good fun stuff for consumers - i.e. video conversion to BB formats etc.

We used to install DM in our standard build to simplify UBS charging and device swapping but time to roll out webdesktop.

DM 4.3 - same old crap with a facelift, and you're right, loads of bloatware, and I couldn't believe how big it was.

Surely you should know by now never to tell the bosses when eval devices come in - they always try and pinch them!
