Im tempted to buy an unlocked new bold phone on ebay and was wondering if my current curve sim would allow me access the bolds 3g speeds as my at&t curve sim does state 3g on it so I can avoid paying the inflated bolds 3g monthly prices as Im using the 35.00 dollar unlimited data service only right now. Any idea, thanks

My GUESS is your account would have to be provisioned for 3G

The SIM will work fine in the Bold. You don't have to change a thing on your account. Just change the PIN on your BIS setup page and resend service books.

Not sure what you mean by the "inflated bolds 3g monthly prices" as BIS rates are the same, regardless of device.

thanks for your replies and by inflated prices I meant that I was hoping I could use the high 3g speed with my 35.00 unlimited curve data plan as apparently i could not find the same plan for the new bold phone on at&t website.

BIS is BIS, all i did when i bought my bold at the att store was drop in my SIM out of my Curve and switch the PIN in BIS.

Theres no 3g BB plan, or regular BB plan. All you need is a SIM card with 3g on it, and you are good to go.

Ive had the same SIM card since my Treo, then 8525, then my Curve.

great that sounds good to know that I can use my same bis rate with the new 3g high speed internet ( bold ) without having to pay more for the faster speeds.

nope. 8310 does not have a 3g radio, so its not possible.
