What I'm looking for is a (preferably free) program that will grab all the birthdays/anniversaries from the calendar and display them in order. I realize that I can just browse my calendar for this info, but I think it would be useful if I could just launch an app and see if anybody has a birthday/anniversary coming up without having to search.

Anybody know of anything?

I appreciate the effort, but how exactly would using Google Calendar and syncing get my any closer to my goal? I already have all the birthdays and anniversaries in my calendar. What I'm looking for is a program that grabs them all and displays them to me without having to manually search through my calendar.

just use agenda view on the calendar and have it set reminders people want some of teh starngest apps.

Agenda View shows a day (or just part of a day, depending on the number of events) at a time, and won't do what he is looking for...

I understand the desire, I think, but your best bet is likely on a PC, using a search feature in Outlook to search on birthdays (assuming you've added them to contacts using the Birthday field, or have consistently entered "Birthday" in the event name).

In Outlook (2003-2007 at least), you can enter a contact's birthday, anniversary etc. and Outlook will automatically pop up reminders on those dates (or ahead of time if you so choose).

I hardly think it's strange to want to see this functionality in a BB, I think some of these suggestions are much stranger like manually combing through thousands of contacts to add tasks for birthdays and such.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, and my BB already does this.

Thanks, I agree completely. I have tons of contacts with birthdays and anniversaries, and I have reminders set to remind me of each person's birthday. However, there are times when I want to just see a long list of birthdays. For example, at the beginning of the month I might like to see a list of everyone who has a birthday that month. Having a simple little app that pulls this together would be nice. Every other smartphone format appears to have such an app. Here's an example:

Tiny app: only 84kb ... and free.

So, I'm clearly not the first person to have ever thought such an app would be useful.

Looks pretty good ... until the $19.99 price is displayed. Wow! That's pretty expensive for that kind of app.

I bought that program, it is garbage. First of all the data wasn't backed up which I didn't realize so when I switched BB's I lost it all. I wrote the company and they sent me the "new" version which supposedly backed up the data. I tested it before re-entering 60 plus dates and it did not back up the DB in any way that I could find through the DM. I asked the question of the company and they never responded to numerous requests, I no longer even have it installed, worst $20 I ever spent!

Gadgetguru please excuse the thread highjack but are you kidding me? 19.99 is not more then 3 number 4 combos at McDonalds or just a few more lattes. I understand in the day in age of WalMart and the sort I understand the logic but jesus man pony up and pay or live without it. I don't have a dog in this fight as I am just a user like you but hell it's twenty bucks

Besides, the fact that your judgment is so poor that you choose to eat the unhealthy crap they serve at McDonald's completely discredits your opinion anyway.

Sure, $20 in-and-of-itself is not much money. However, everything has to be judged by its value, and this type of program doesn't have $20 worth of value.

Dog, I agree with you which is why I bought it, ready my previous post about how it doesn't work and the company doesn't respond. When it is free you get what you pay for, when pay 20 bucks it should work and since you have to manually enter all the data, I am sure you expect it to be backed up.

Are you kidding me? He comes into this thread and posts for absolutely no other reason than to call me cheap, and he has absolutely no basis for doing so. The fact that I don't consider that program to be worth $20 does not make me cheap. Do you go around buying every single thing you see that "only" costs $20? No, I'm sure you don't. Instead, you ask yourself if the item is worth $20. That particular program is not worth $20 to me, plain and simple.

Ok, well, I'll apologize for my comments regarding his post count and the crack about McDonalds.

However, the definition of a thread crap is any post that doesn't answer the original poster's question or positively advance the thread. His post served no purpose other than to accuse me of being cheap ... a comment for which there is no basis.

If you agree with him on that point, then you clearly have not read this thread very closely. I very clearly (in the first post) asked about a program that would grab birthdays and anniversaries from the existing calendar, and display them for me. The $20 program referred to above does NOT do that. Rather, you have to manually enter all the dates into that program separately. I have hundreds of contacts and I'm not about to even consider entering this information manually. So, please explain to me how I'm cheap because I don't want to pay $20 for a program that does NOT do what I want it to do? Does that make any sense to you? So, my comment was accurate ... that program is expensive considering it doesn't do exactly what I want it to do. Plain and simple.
