Default Two MINOR bugs on ym phone, is this serious?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok so had my Storm for almost a month now. Everything was fine, no problems at all until I installed the App World. The App World, even when not running used allot of my application memory, which I think it normal. But since then I noticed two things.

1. When I press the lock screen on the top left corner of the deice, it usually shows me a little timer icon and fades to black right away, now if I'm on the home screen and I press the lock button it does nothing, it will go to sleep and lock itself after like 10 seconds but the Icons stays there. It will actually work like it used to if I press the lock button, and then touch or swipe my finger on the screen, then it locks and goes to sleep like its suppose to. But before it would automatically go to sleep and fade to black as soon as I pressed the lock button, not after I swipe the screen.

2. I'm always connected on 1XEV (3G) but since I installed the App World I see 1xev (edge). I was always on 1XEV I never saw the no caps one for edge, I tried my internet browser and its just as fast as it used to, and I'm still in a 1XEV area. I'm not sure but I think it might be displaying 1xev when I'm actually on 1XEV? Is that possible? Like I said in a whole month I never saw anything else than 1XEV and all of a sudden I see 1xev and my screen lock is weird...

I did a quick pull, un installed the App World and did another quick Pull. And no change. Its not that serious, the phone still works like it would but I don't understand why this is happening and I'm afraid more weird things like this will happen.

PS, I'm running OS .76 the default one that came with my Storm (on the Bell network)

Thanks for any help or comments.

Cheers.

basically,

CDMA
1xev - data connection, but no solid connection to BB servers

1xEV- BB connection is there

GSM
EDGE - Full 2g connection
edge - full data connection, not a solid connection to BB

**Same applies to GPRS/gprs
**GSM is always GSM. there is no gsm/GSM

That being said, if everything works, i wouldnt be too worried about it. because if it does work, it may just be the network not keeping a solid connection because it is busy

1XEV is the equivalent of 3G.
1X is the equivalent of EDGE.

and if you want to get really technical, 1XEV isn't actually 3G. 3G is a GSM only thing. 1XEV like jsconyers has said is an equivalent which CDMA companies have just started calling 3G to compete.

you can get data in either 1X or 1XEV, but no data if they are in lowercase (1xev or 1x).

Mine was lowercase yesterday and I was browsing web sites and receiving emails. Browsing the net was just as fast. But like I said it may be a bug where my phone displays 1xev when I'm on 1XEV...
