Is there any way to update the software besides using the app loader? I keep getting the same problem as this guy http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...on-loader.html. I tried doing it manually but am unable to download the actual software file from the website BlackBerry - Device Software v5.0 - Download BlackBerry Device Software Today. Whatever steps I try ultimately leads to me having to update my software.

Did you try following the instructions in the pinned topic at the top of this forum?

In addition, uninstall blackberry (if applicable) from your computer (control panel->add/remove programs) prior to installing the new apploader.

steps :

1- download the OS
2- install the OS on PC
3- go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
4- open loader.exe and follow the instructions
