Default first letter search in address book reset

Please Login to Remove!

When I am in the address book, my first letter search does not work. When entering the first letter of the name that I want to access, I have to scroll down manually instead of going directly to the letter that I entered. How can I reset this function?

Did you remove the battery and reinsert?

It's not really a first letter search. It's a "best found" search. For instance, if you are looking for SUTTON and you press the AS key, you will get names beginning with A if they exist. Next if you press the UI key, you would get names starting with AI if they exist. You need to press enough letters to narrow it down to the name you want. You can press and hold the * key to switch to Multi-Tap mode and then enter the letters by pressing the keys to get to the letter you want. For instance, to get an S, press AS twice. Pressing and holding * again will turn SureType back on.

Welcome to the forums.

This is almost true. In your example, if you press the AS key you will get names beginning with A and S (first and last.) Then if you press the UI key you will get names that use that combination as well and then it continues to narrow down as you type. Using SureType is the best method for this. It's really a great feature and works very well.
