Default Backup and restore ?

Please Login to Remove!

My Pearl arrived today. All is going well except for the backup and restore feature on the desktop app. I added a few games, synced contacts and set up my BT headset. Working good so far. It sees my 2gig card fine and so on. I figured I'll backup everything now. However, the operation did what it said, it must have backed up then it restored and my browser and email was gone. I got all back but what am I missing in the Backup and restore? Can't I just backup what I have for safe keeping and restore my latest backup if it becomes necessary?

Thanks,
johnling

After clicking the Backup and Restore button in the Desktop Manager, what options did you do next? Walk us through step by step.

Sorry, I don't recall any option. I think it just did it's thing. I have not had the guts to try again. That was the first and only time I went into it. Will I be presented options the next time? I'm sure if I would have seen any options I would have selected what I felt would have protected what is on the phone.

I would try upgrading to the latest version of Desktop Manager (4.2 SP2) and then try again. I am using 4.2.1 and when I double click on the Backup and Restore button it takes me to a different screen with several buttons. One says Backup, one says Restore, and the other says Advanced.

When I go into desktop with the phone disconnected I get options. I definately did not get these screens the first time.

I wonder if yo have the automatic backup enabled. I believe there is a setting somewhere where you can disable the automatic backup. The backup should not erased anything, though.

OK, i had that version installed days before I got the Pearl. I had to reinstall the version that came with the phone as the latest I got from BB.com didn't see my phone. I'm on tmobile if that makes a diff.

Thanks Jeremy!!!!!

I will go through the process now as I get the screen you mention this time.

Thanks Again!
