Default synching email to blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

i just downloaded pocketmac 4.1.25 for my blackberry 8310, and it synched up my calendar and contacts, but not my email.
i realized afterward that i hadn't completed the blackberry setup yet, so i did that and entered my email address and password.
everything worked ok, and it said i should be receiving emails in 20 min.
but nothing has come in to my bb.

any help would be much appreciated!!

Emails you have already received will not be downloaded to the device. Have you received email on that account since then? If so, it should have been delivered to your BB.

It should work just fine. Try doing a battery pull and if email does not come to your device, then try resending the service books from your BIS account online.

i tried adding my hotmail account to the bb, and i'm able to receive email from that account. still no email from my comcast account.
what do you mean by "resending the service books from my BIS account online?"
sorry, i'm so new to all this...

thanks for your help!

No worries! Resending service books is also explained in more detail through this FAQ page: How do I resend my service books? - BlackBerryFAQ

okay, i am at my wits end!
can someone please clarify this for me?
it was my understanding that installing pocketmac would enable the blackberry to sync up the OSXMail, Address book, and icalendar continuously.
but it seems that with the address book and icalendar, you have to plug in your bb and run the sync manually each time you want to update your info.

my email from my mac does not go to my bb at all.
is that even possible?

my bb at work was synched to entourage through our webmail, so i always received the emails instantly.
also, every time i updated my contacts in entourage, it would immediately show up on the bb.

is this impossible with OSXMail, contacts, and ical?
i really don't want to get an iphone, but the bb is useless to me if i can't
get this to work.

I have a Blackberry Bold and find that pocketmac does not work well. I downloaded the trial version of Missing Sync for the Blackberry and it works fine. So I bought it. You can find it at markspace.com

thanks! did your email work as well?
my email finally came in this am, but it's taking really long to reach the bb.
also, with missing sync do your ical and address book update automatically without having to plug in the bb each time?

i'm so close to buying an iphone right now!!!

First point you should understand is that unless you are on a corporate BES server, you WILL NOT get email synchronization. Meaning, your email will not sync up on the device with what is in your email client.

Also, the PIM stuff (calendar, contacts) can be sync'd as you are doing with a wired connection to pocketmac. You won't get wireless sync of your PIM data unless you use a third party app (or are on a BES.)

so does this mean the bb is useless for home use?
the main reason i got it was that i'll be working from home now, and i need to get my emails when i'm not at my desk.

the emails from my hotmail account come in right away, but i'd prefer not to use that one. i called comcast and they said this should work...

would an iphone be able to sync the emails?

No, I'm just indicating that you seem to believe the device is currently capable of more than you're getting out of it. Your expectations or synchronization may be a bit high.

I would delete your comcast account on the BIS site and re-create it. I'd also be sure to check that your email client is not removing the email from the server when it retrieves it. This may be responsible for the failed delivery to your device.

What is your expectation of email sync? You can get a certain level of wireless sync with the use of IMAP vs POP3. But when I say it doesn't sync I mean to say it doesn't sync to what you have on your desktop client when you plug in and perform a wired sync.

my main expectation is to receive emails from my home account on the bb in a timely fashion when i'm away from my desk. just the way i was able to do at work, using entourage. of course, work was a corporate webmail account, and the tech support there set it up.
it could be a case of "operator error" because i'm new to this, coupled with what you suggested about the email being deleted from the server once it hits my home computer. that's actually a good suggestion.

the other option would be to use my hotmail account for business, since that shows up right away on the bb.

but my friends have been telling me they have absolutely no problem doing this with their iphones, so maybe i have to go that route, as much as i love the bb.

thanks for your help! i'm on the phone with tech support at bb--we'll see what they say!

i think you called it, bb-techie!
i changed my pref on mac mail to not delete the message from the server, and now i'm receiving emails on time.
was on the phone with a bb tech who sent me a few emails, and it works now.

thanks!

no iphone...yet!

Glad you got comcast working. You may also want to look into getting yourself a Yahoo account. They are among the best free email accounts to use with a BlackBerry. You get near-instant delivery because they have advanced IMAP.
