"Use your 8700 as a Bluetooth Modem" would be a more informative title for readers and future searchers.

I don't have a 8700 and thus would not have to have read this post.

I really would like to see on a Cingular, and whether they try to charge you for the high-end tething plan, as plans that work on the Cingular 8125 and Palm 650 at Cingular allow tethering at the same price as the Cingular BIS.

I totally agree that the commercial endeavor is unreasonable, especially since people donated money toward that solution.

Well it was stated in the bounty that they could charge for it...oh well...I never kicked in cash because I have a 7130e, but guess its a step in the right direction....

What, Bill? You do realize you're in the Mac Users Corner, right? FYI, MAC in all caps is a networking acronym for Machine Address Code.

Since we're splitting hairs (clearly BillBerry was unaware of his location in the forum), MAC, as used in networking, means Media Access Controller.

On topic, has anyone been able to try this tethering solution (other than Alex)? I'm interested in finding out if Cingular will bill me for a tethered solution or if they won't know the difference.

Default crap!

If you read the notes on the site. It's only going to allow dialup speeds. $650 bucks + all the time they say for dialup? If i were half those people I would want my money back.

Agree? Disagree?

Absolutely I agree with you. I haven't read the site, but I'm pretty sure that people donating wanted EDGE.

It also kinda suck that they have got it working on 8703, dial-up too?

WTF. The bounty should have stated that it had to be released as freeware or something like that. That sucks that it's $50. Also, I don't see how it could NOT take advantage of EVDO if it's used with an 8703e in an EVDO area. Is it because Bluetooth can't handle the higher data speeds?
