Default wonderings about BB9800

Please Login to Remove!

Hello there mates,
I've narrowed the search for my next mobile and bb9800 is one of my two finalists.

I have some questions about it, I do not need too many applications and unnecessary mess.
All I need is a few things:
Blaklist
Flash that I can use as a flashlight when in need
Software like trackID (music identification)
a free Gps software
Stopwatch
And Office (which I believe there is)

Are there any of these applications for this device?
I have no experience with Blakberry whatsoever, but this one has really caught my attention.
What do you think about it in general?
Battery? Quality of reception? Strength of speakers? Hearing? Accessibility? Durability?

Thanks!

Free GPS - GPS is free. I assume that you mean map application. BBMaps is on the device, you can download GoogleMaps, however, you must have a BB data plan to use the map applications. Garmin has a self-contained on,but it is rather expensive. Check the sticky at the top of the GPS and Maps section for more information.

Office - do you mean Microsoft Office? There is DocsToGo which allows you to view Word and Excel files. To edit you will need the Pro version.

For the apps you list, please use the search feature, check App World (you will need a BB data plan) and/or the app developer for device and OS compatibility.

I had no problem with my 9800. Read through the 9800 section and see what other users have to say.

I would get the 9810 instead of the 9800 which is a year old.

9810 has a dual core CPU and more memory. Externally they are the same; the 9810 is a much better and faster version.

Do you have a reference to this? What I have been able to find is that it has a MSM8255 Snapdragon S2 which has a single Scorpion CPU (ARMv7) and an Ardreno 205 GPU.

You are likely correct; my reference was an NDA presentation from six months ago and I may be totally off mark. It is twice the speed of the 98000 processor (624MHz for the 9800 and 1.2GHz for the 9810).

well, so ive been seeing some comparison between those two on youtube and such and it seems that the difference is kinda minimum (sure the power is indubitable as it shows on numbers) and it doesnt worth the extra money in my opinion.

what about the quality of the parts such as the screen and battery cover durability? quality and strength of volume? battery sufficiency??

im sorry for any headache from my side btw

That's interesting, an S3 CPU would be dual core, but would also be more likely to support BBX. I haven't found a RIM source yet, but neither have I looked very hard.

Do not hijack others' threads, particularly old and outdated ones. It's rude.
