Smile Wipe/Security, password issues

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB Curve 8900. My Plan is a personal plan. When I installed Desktop manager I did not select BES. Desktop Manager and my phone have been working OK, for over a month. I have an issue during the last 2 weeks, in which I added a couple of themes, and Sync. a couple of times using Desktop manager. Don't have an idea of whats going on. Here are some of the symptoms :
  1. The phone ocassionally shows messages such as "Enabling security...", and others. These messages appear after long periods (hours of not using the phone), for example when I unplug my phone during the morning. When this happens, the background wallpaper gets reset to the Theme's Default.
  2. I could previously Enable/Disable the password, now a small Icon appears next to the Enable (Options - Security - General Settings), and I can't disable it (I can change the password and all other settings).
I bought my phone new, it's an AT&T phone. Somebody told me it seems to have an IT Policy (like it was managed as a BES company phone). What's weird is that it worked OK for over a month (I bought it in Aug. 18, 2009). This has prompted the following questions :
  1. Can some application or theme mess up my BB's configuration and make behave as it has an IT Policy?
  2. If the phone has an IT Policy, how can I verify this? How can I delete this?
  3. If I do a Wipe, will this clear the IT Policy? What else is deleted with a Wipe?
  4. Will a Wipe leave my phone useless (will the AT&T SIM Card still work, will I be able to use my phone)?
  5. Can BB get viruses?

1. No, shouldn't. You probably do have an IT Policy.
2. Options > Security > General Settings. Anything listed above or below **services**?
3. Wipe won't clear it, but a reset to factory will...
See method one: Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ
4. Yes, you ATT card will still work, you aren't going to wipe it.
5. Nope.
