I've done a search and haven't found anything to help....

I am trying to instal gmaps7230_v3_en and I get an error that says

The application gmaps7230_v3_en has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy

I can't disable the firewall reseting it does nothing, nor does pulling out the battery.

T-mobile blackberry 7230 v3.7.1.41 (platform 1.6.1.41)

I have the same problem with google maps and bbtoday. This is my personal bb, but I bought it used and I'm guessing it was on a BES before, so the IT has locked it. I have looked at the firewall, but can't change certain settings at all. I upgraded my software, but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions? Something I'm missing? TIA

Well, I am glad to see I am not the only one with this problem. Has anyone come up with a solution to this? I've tried wiping the handheld and even tried the TCP/APN mapping for my carrier (T-Mobile) but no luck.

I don't know the answer, but just curious. When you wiped it did you use the BB menu or JavaLoader? I'm wondering if JavaLoader wipes more stuff or is useful for repairing dead BBs.

What I'm trying to say is that if you used the BB wipe, you might try JavaLoader, but I don't know if it'll help.

Actually, I've tried both and neither works. The problem lies in the fact that this BB was once connected to a BES. It seems the IT Policy is holding tight even though I have wiped the damned thing repeatedly. I even tried the instructions at the URL below (Anti Spam is preventing me from posting the URL properly) and that didn't work either. I'm about to toss this BB through the damned window...

I've heard it's possible to remove the IT Policy. You might search for it and see what comes up. I downloaded instructions from a post here a while back (just in case I ever needed to) but they are on another computer--but I've never tried it myself. If you wipe your current employers IT policy off your BB you may end up in the unemployment line. However, if it is an old IT policy the procedure may be just what is needed. I'll search later when I get more time and edit if I find anything.

Same problem but...it works.

Before you open G-Maps go to Firewall settings in Options and Reset Settings. Then go to G-Maps, open it. When it asks you to allow the connection choose allow all and close the aplication. Open it again and it will work till the next time you need to open it. I know it is a pain int he ... but at least it works. I use T-Mobile and 7230.

Well, I managed to remove the IT policy from my BB (thanks to a thread on this forum) but unfortunately, I still cannot get Google maps to run. It still thinks my IT policy is preventing it from accessing the web. I even tried woyteg's suggestion and no dice. I verified that the IT policy is gone and have even re-wiped the handheld after I removed IT policy. I still cannot disable the firewall and resetting the firewall settings does nothing.

I am finding that this is also affecting my ability to use Shark Modem. Sigh...

Just curious. Are you running the current BB os software? I notice that you listed your BB software as 3.73. If you update to current BB os, that may help. Go to tmobile's site to download.

This problem seems to occur sporadically. I have a 7280, and sometimes the maps work, and sometimes not. Fiddling with the menus and reopening the program sometimes "fixes" it. It just happened to me earlier today; popped up the error message about firewalls about 10 times, then started working again. For what it's worth, I've seen this happen with Midpssh and MobileSSH too, though not nearly as frequently.

I'm using 4.0, the latest I can get on 7280/T-Mobile (unless I'm somehow mistaken, but I thought later versions need more memory to run than the 7280 has), and I still have this problem. Upgrading is a good idea though.
