I'm on a 7290, cingular is my carrier and I've got the latest software updates running. My question is this: is the numeric value of signal strength inversely proportional to the number of signal bars visible? If I do the alt+NMLL sequence on the home screen and the signal strength is near or more than 100, why is only one bar visible? I would assume that the higher the number is, the more bars would be visible. It may be helpful to note that I've got the "smoothie" theme loaded...

Thanks!

Just the opposite. That number is a minus or negative. The higher the number LESS signal you have. -100 is not good but likley usable.

A lower number is better

By lower, you mean higher, right? As in -75 being greater than -100. Also, there's some interesting stuff about signal attenuation under the Wikipedia article for "cellular repeater", in case you're interested.

It's funny though, I know it's suppose to be -92 signal strength but my 8700g only displays the number 92, no negative sign.
