I tried to use the Google Maps on my Bold yesterday with GPS enabled and I can watch my location move along the map in real-time as I'm driving, yet the "turn-by-turn directions" don't update. I still have to manually hit a button to see the next step in my directions, rather than it updating automatically for me, which can be a big distraction when I'm driving. I can confirm that the GPS is working and Google Maps does recognize it and pinpoints my location down to 3m.

Is it possible to have Google Maps update the turn by turn directions on the map view? If not, can anyone recommend a free program that will update the directions as my location changes?

The application is working as designed. It is a manual turn-by-turn advancement.

You might want to check out nav4all, listed in the GPS section on this forum.

thanks for the confirmation and quick response! I tried out amAze and it's working pretty well so far except the poor UI.

I haven't found a good UI in any of the free options. Garmin and Telenav are both excellent but come at a price.
