If at all possible, I'd say bite the bullet and get off the Boost network. I recently went to T-Mobile with my horrendous credit and a few hundred dollars and walked out with an 8320 Curve with no deposit. They just require the first months bill in advance. If you work it right, and depending on the minutes you need, you can walk out of the store with an actived BB for less than $275. Heh. This coming from a Sprint Advanced Tech Agent.

DC/DC is Right no push e-mail or PIN message, but if the PIN message is a must have there is work arounds for the e-mail problem.

I just reposted a work around for these issues on another thread to save space and my time just follow this link to the other thread.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...o-mms-sms.html

By the way metro PCS another prepaid carrier is rolling out the BB curve with unlimited everything for $60 as of right now this is only going on in Texas (i think in Dallas), San Francisco Bay area, and another market which I can't remember.
So if Boost wants to place it self on the run they are gonna have to roll out BB services on it net work to compete, as I'm seriously thinking in getting a metro BB for use while in Orlando and just reactivating my Boost whenever I have to travel to a area out of metro coverage.
---EDIT---
Also there are some other members working with NEXTEL Service Books transplantation, so far it seems promising text message and Internet problems were fixed but a new problem GPS services arose. since I don have a 8320 I can't mess with this but I probably try the same in my 7520. After all I just got this phone to hack it.

Default Blackberry 7520

Hey Allan, i have the 7520 with Boost. I'm trying to get the internet to work and saw that you said the opera mini works. I'm trying to connect to my computer to download but although i have the right driver, the device is not showing up on my computer. How did you download and configure the browser.

Also, is there any way to get the Boost Navigation to work with the phone.
Thanks

Note 7520 does not support local text messaging it requires BB data plan to be able to send and receive MMS and texts, therefore boostberries 7520 are unable to send and receive text and MMS. I have been looking for a free or cheap work arround for this issue (yes, I found a solution but it cost 10c per message). I do not know about 8350i I'm actually looking for a member of this forum that have converted an 8350i to boost and know if text message works. I'm a new user to this forum but I have been moding phones, PCs and game consoles for over 10 years as a hobby.

Also, BB pin message does not work for the same reason lack of BB data support.

Default BB 7520 with Boostmobile

I have the Nextel BB 7520 with a boost sims card. I am currently under the unlimited $50 plan. These are all the apps that I have (I don't have
the links, but u can google them to find them...that's how I did it):

1. Opera mini 4.2 and 3.1. Downloaded 3.1 from the desktop and 4.1 via
OTA. How did I download OTA? We will get back to that later. LoL
Anyways, with both browsers I can go back and forth between 2 web
pages simultaneously.

2.Nimbuzz 1.1- this free instant messenger will integrate all of ure
IM's (Google talk, aim, yahoo, etc.) into 1. It disconnects a lot tho.

3. Webmessenger- This does the same az Nimbuzz, but it runs more fluently.

4. I have Twitterberry 0.8 which i downloaded OTA,

5. Gmail 2.0.6- Download this app so that u won't have to go to ure
browser to check ure messages. Az far az the text message issue: Go
to gmail on your pc and click on "settings". Click on the forwarding
and POP tab. Now in the "forward a copy of incoming mail to" box, put:
YOUR BOOST [email address]. Now all incoming mail will go
straight to your phone. So if your facebook, myspace, etc, is set up
with your gmail, your phone will now be notified when you get a
message, comment, etc. U can also send texts to phone carriers through
your gmail. Here are some sms gateways:

[email address] Alltel

[email address] Ameritech

[email address] ATT Wireless

[email address] Bellsouth

[email address] Boost

[email address] CellularOne

[email address] CellularOne MMS

[email address] Cingular

[email address] Edge Wireless

[email address] Sprint PCS

[email address] T-Mobile

[email address] Metro PCS

[email address] Nextel

[email address] O2

[email address] Orange

[email address] Qwest

[email address] Rogers Wireless

[email address] Telus Mobility

[email address] US Cellular

[email address] Verizon

[email address] Virgin Mobile

When the recipient replies, it will come straight back to ure gmail and phone.
It would be wise to copy these sms gateway into your notes on your BB.
That way u can just copy & paste when composing a message
Also, my gmail app has the ability to have 2 accounts open...so u can
use 1 gmail for business and 1 for personal.

5.Google Maps 2.3- The directions are great! I also downloaded this
OTA, but u can also google the alx file for destop manager download.

Now in order to enable your phone to download OTA (Over-The-Air...or
from your phone browser...just in case you were still lost), the
process is very simple. U must 1st google the BB 7520 service books.
Download them to your DESKTOP on your pc. Then u go on your phone to
Options>advanced options>applications. Delete your browser if u have
one. Ure phone will then have the option to restart. Select "yes".
After your phone iz done restarting, Open up ure Desktop Manager and
restore the Service Books on your phone.
After u restore, go to the application loader and select the "Browser"
and the "Javascript Package" and install. If u have done the procedure
right, u will now be able to download Pics, apps, & games directly
from your phone browser.

So all in all I have all of these apps and unlimited minutes for just
$50 a month. I couldn't ask for a better phone experience. Oh yea here
iz a tip: (HOLD)SHIFT+BACKBUTTON will allow u to use your scroll wheel
to cycle between different apps all at once! This is how I copy and
paste a number from my adress book to my gmail. Or how I cycle between
my two opera mini's without closing neither one. U can actually have
ALL the apps on your phone open at the same tyme. It will take some
getting used to...but you will get the hang of it.

No hate, just give credit where credit is due. That same exact text has been posted on this forum before by a different user, which is stealing.

Creating duplicate accounts is against forum policy.

If you cannot remember your password, you can have it reset.

I would advise you to initiate a password reset on your primary account. If you cannot do this, PM me quick, because your "new" username will shortly be banned.

In fact, how many accounts do you have?

blockstarclassik registered Feb 09, and dc/dc said that account copied a post
classik registered April 09

Do you have 3 accounts? Please PM me now. I do not want to have to start searching to find this info. Ta.

Unfortunately, that plan costs double what Boost does. While I agree that that plan is the right way to go, and I don't agree with workarounds, most people get Boost because of the cost.

Everything data plan 69.99 isn't it? Doesn't the nextel BB addon 30$ ? That's still expensive.

The Simply Everything plan is $99.99 regardless of whether the device is iDEN or CDMA.

Boost's unlimited phone, SMS, and non-BlackBerry data is $50. It is not possible to get a BlackBerry plan on Boost, hence the multitude of threads on workarounds.

Default SMS MMS Internet & Email with Boost Mobile & BB 8350i

I c that you guys are saying you cannot use the new blackberry nextel on boost.. this is not tru... or maybe this is a old post but u can use it with the boost network & all u have 2 do is a lil configuring. Also for those that are saying that sprint has the best plan for the phone. I am using boost mobiles $1 A Day Chat Plan.. So It Does Beat The Nextel Data Plan.

Quote:
you need to get all the correct service books installed so you have full access to everything. You can download them here:

NOTE: This is a ZIP file. You will have to extract in order to use with BB DM.

1) ENABLE SERVICE BOOK COMPLETE BACKUP / OVER WRITE / RESTORE on the Device, like this:

a) On your device, go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Service Books hold Alt and hit {S}{B}{E}{B} let go of alt and it should show a message about how legacy service books are enabled if done correctly.

2) BACKUP EXISTING SERVICE BOOKS

a) Hook up the phone to the laptop Or Desktop

b) Open Blackberry Desktop Manager -> Backup/Restore -> Advanced

i) On the right side, scroll down to Service Books, then press the <<

ii) Click on Save, and save them some place just in case

3) WRITE NEW SERVICE BOOKS TO DEVICE

a) First, clear your service books by scrolling down on the right side, high light Service Books, then press Clear

b) Check your device now (Options -> Advance Options -> Service Books)

i) If there is anything left besides something that mentions TCP/IP or Browser, delete those also

c) Open BB DM, go to Backup/Restore -> Advanced -> Left Window -> File -> Open -> select the service book file you downloaded, then the >> button to move it over. A pop-up will ask if you want to over-write. Say "Yes."

d) Disconnect phone from Computer.

e) Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Host Routing Table -> BB Menu key -> Register

f) go to advanced settings -> browser and change the hot spot to browser.

i) Now your browser should be enabled, along with this, you should also be able to send/receive MMS. Now would be an okay time to test this, by sending one to yourself. If you are able to send, but not receive, make sure your phone is updated with the correct IMEI on Boost's "My Account" area and that you have disabled text forwarding. It might also be a good idea to put your SIM in a different phone and make sure your number is receiving texts.

g) If you do not get the browser option restart and try again.

Now that youxxx8217;ve done that, you should also be able to use the BB inbox for email via Shangmail. This is an application that runs in the background and pushes your email to your BB.

1.) Go to Shangmailxxx8217;s website: Shangmail-Cell phone mailbox, mobile phone e-mail, take with you freely I used the English version but it does go down from time to time. I have heard the Chinese version is more reliable but I do not know this from experience.

2.) From there, you should be able to register, add up to 5 pop3 email accounts, and download the app and install via Desktop Manager.

3.) Once installed, you have to open the application and log in. After that, it should start up instantly and push your email to you instantly.

Now you should have full use of your BoostBerry! Here are a few additional applications I recommend:

1.) Opera Mini (Opera Mini - Download)

a. You do not have to use this for web browsing since you have the native browser working, but there are some sites that load better with Opera and itxxx8217;s faster.

2.) Google Maps (You will have to download this via the BB Browser OTA. You have the option to do this when you go to google.com with your BB Browser).

a. You now have the Blackberry Maps application installed but certain functions are blocked out because you do not have BIS/BES so this program will help. There are also other GPS programs out there. I have heard good things about AmazeGPS but I havenxxx8217;t personally tried it.

3.) VyMail (http://www.joekrill.com/vymail/0.8.3...il-0.8.3.5.zip)

a. This is a third-party App for using YouMail. As of right now, you can only download YouMail via the Blackberry Store Application but you wonxxx8217;t be able to use that since you donxxx8217;t have BIS/BES. Ixxx8217;ve used both and this works just as well.

4.) xxx8220;Visible Menus Themexxx8221; (Default theme with black menus)

a. A lot of third party pieces of software such as Opera Mini do not support the transparent menus that are utilized in the default them for the 8350. This theme is simply the default theme but with the fix so you donxxx8217;t have to worry about that anymore.

Now, if you still have the urge to forward your text messages to your email, here is the how-to on that. This is a little more updated than the other one.

1) Go to Sprint.com and where you can sign in, click on xxx8220;Sign Up.xxx8221;

2) The rest should be pretty straight forward, just fill out the form. Once you get logged it, it might say xxx8220;Cannot access your account at this time.xxx8221; Donxxx8217;t worry about that, just move on.

3) Go to http://mms.nextel.com/mms and log in with the same information.

4) You will see a red bar that says xxx8220;Your messages cannot be read. Please try again later.xxx8221; Do not worry about that, this is made for Sprint customers so you will never be able to read your messages on this page.

5) Click on Preferences, then Forward Messages.

6) At this point, you can choose a place to forward your messages too. This can be any email address, but the most popular is a gmail or msn account b/c you can download the app for the respective email accounts and they poll often enough. Since I downloaded shangmail, I have push email so I just used my favorite email account. I also tested sending it to [email address]. This comes in as an SMS message which is instant (sometimes shangmail can take up to 15 minutes). However, it does not show who the message is from. If you get it as an email, it will tell you itxxx8217;s from xxx8220;your friends number/TYPE=PLMN@myboostmobile.comxxx8221; If you want to reply, you will have to send a message to xxx8220;your friends number@their service provider.com.xxx8221; Itxxx8217;s a pain, but itxxx8217;s better than nothing. Anyway, type in your email address and click xxx8220;add.xxx8221; If you want to test different ones to see which comes in faster or how they come in, you can add more than one address.

7) Be sure to check the boxes that say xxx8220;Enable Forwarding Addressxxx8221; and xxx8220;Keep a Copy in my Inbox until it expiresxxx8221; and then click xxx8220;Okayxxx8221; to save everything.
Hope This Helps U Guys Out.
