Default messenger: User unavailable (busy)

In what circumstances does a user become unavailable in messenger automatically?
WHen a user goes unavailable and i get user info within messenger, it says the user is busy but the individual did not initiate unavailable or busy status.

Other than out of coverage/radio off/data outage, I can't think of a situation where a user becomes unavailable without initiating it themselves.

I find that other users in my company randomly become unavailable, and have no idea it happened. It's only when I tell them that I wanted to IM them, do they see that they're showing up as unavailable. But on their own device, they still appear available. Nonetheless, if they set their availability to 'available' status, they immediately appear available again on my BB. No idea what caused them to become unavailable in the first place...

kjaslow: this is exactly what I have been experiencing. Guess it's just a system issue.
