Default 9700 white screen with barely visible background

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, first time posting.

I had a 9700 which given to me and it had a white screen upon boot up. I tried the screen capture and showed that the device works (program icons etc) and the unit can communicate with PC. Tried reloaded OS. Then replaced the screen with a brand new LCD but problem remains. The background (bootup blackberry bar) is barely visible. Any idea on how it can be repaired? See attached. Thanks.

It's frustrating, it still communicates with PC and I can do screen capture to show everything is "working", just erratic display. I tried replacing the LCD with a brand new one but still the same issue.

Unfortunately my phone has expired warranty. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

If it was a PC, I'd say it's a bad video card... no idea if that's a replaceable part in a BB...

Ok folks, I suggest you use the SEARCH feature and read our FAQ.

Is there an error code present on the screen?

Have you tried a battery pull? That should be the first troubleshooting step that you take.

If it can connect to DM, I suggest wiping with Jl_Cmdr (see the FAQ) and then reload the OS. See the yellow sticky at the top of the specific Forum section for your device for the latest OS and instructions.
