BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
Please Login to Remove!
Hey there!
My admin doesnt have the answer to this question, thats why i post it here:
- My private Emailaccounts dont work anymore (anymore! - they worked the first 2 months aftern setting them up without any problems)
- Vodafone tells me that they see in my account, that i am using an BES which does not allow me to administrate my account on mobileemail BIS!
- yeah, in deed it´s a company mobile phone together wie a BES
- Are my account settings for the private Email-accounts (internet Mail-accounts like gmx e.g.) somewhere in the BES?
- I wiped the phone twice already, everythings gone, the company email exchange connection as well
- but as soon as I navigate to the internet mail-accounts the blackberry says: Looking for updates and then: Establishing connection to Email settings
and then - even after wiping the whole phone, there they are: my non-working F***** private Emailadresses.
So: Where does the BB take these information, where are the Email-accounts stored that even wiping the phone doesnt work?? I also deleted every single service book by the way.
after that, the accounts were gone, but when i navigate to email-setup again then again: Lookin for updates, establishing connection and there they are again (like above).
the thing that doesnt work with my private email-adresses, is:
When i type in my password and try to activate the email adress, it aaaalways says: (translated from german!)
Unfortunately the session had to be ended. Please log-in again.
I just want to cry or throw the damn phone out of the window! :( :(

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
Welcome to the forums.
The email addresses are tied to the PIN of the BlackBerry. That's why you see them there after a wipe and it connects to your email settings and pulls the service books back down.
Also, I would login to your BIS account (where you try to activate them by entering your password) and remove the accounts completely and then re-add them.
Also, since your device has been wiped, it will need to be re-activated on the BES.
Furthermore, there could be an IT policy preventing internet email from being added to the device. Even a security wipe won't remove the IT Policy.

That's a lie. You can have BIS accounts enabled with a BES account.

They are not on the BES, but can be blocked from the BES.

Umm... Functioning as expected. If you wipe the phone, it really DOES wipe the phone. You have now learned the lesson twice.

Again, wiping the phone will wipe out your settings.
Lesson learned a third time.

It really sounds like your BES Admin is preventing other e-mail accounts from being enabled on the devices. It's an IT Policy setting that you cannot change. It's all pushed out from the BlackBerry Server. If you wipe the device and disassociate it from the Server, you can enable your personal accounts again. Once you re-associate corporate e-mail to the device, the IT Policy will prevent the personal accounts from being used.
See: KB11004-How to block incoming or outgoing SMS, MMS, PIN, BlackBerry Internet Service or enterprise instant messaging
Good luck, and stop wiping your device.

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
Alright, first of all thank you for your answer.
The admin found the settings, every setting was on default.
But now after he has changed the settings, the problem still occurs.
The saved email-adresses (gmx.de and web.de) are there, i type in my password and try to register them by clicking "Check password" ("Prüfen" in german), and again the error occurs.
Unfortunately the session had to be ended. Please log-in again.

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
The only other thing I can think of is under the Security / Firewall setting on the device itself.

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
Thx again. All firewall settings on the device are default --> no blocking of messages.
I wiped my device again by the way!
Before and without activating my device on the BES-Server with the BES-password and the company email adress I tried to activate my private email-adresses.
The device doesnt have any contact to the BES-Server. I click on Internet-Email-Accounts, then it says "Searching for Updates", "Connection to Email-Settings" and there are my two private Emailaccounts again (gmx.de & web.de).
So without any contact to the BES the device somewhere finds the installed emailaccounts and asks for the passwords.
So my question:
Where the hell are these accounts stored?
- Vodafone told me that they are stored in the BES-Settings, but thats not possible because i didnt activate it so far
Thx for your help!!!!

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
They are stored on the BIS servers. Those two addresses are tied to your BlackBerry's PIN.

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
there is also BBID that keeps you email settings as well and is linked to the PIN of your device.
You might be able to login to the BIS portal on your carriers website and remove those accounts.

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
So you say, that what vodafone told me is just wrong yeah?
(They told me that they see in my account that it is a company mobile phone and that it is operated by a BES and so there is no possibility for me to administrate the account myself, I shall ask my Admin because all these settings - including the Emailaccounts - are on the BES)

Re: BES: Private Email-Account-Settings
Yes, they are wrong. True, it may be a company-owned device, true it may have an enterprise dataplan, but that has nothing to do with your personal email accounts being on the device. What they may have meant is that there is one person in the company account that has authority to access the devices on the account and you don't have that authority.
