Default Blackberry 8120 - Email set up problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I hope someone could help me.

My employer has just supplied me with a Blackberry 8120 mobile phone and I am trying to set up my googlemail email address on it so I can recieve the emails on my phone.

I think I have been following all the correct steps but I just cannot get it to work, please could someone kindly advise me that I am doing wrong:

Click Setup Wizard
> Email Setup
> Selected ' I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, then next tap.
> I selected yes to the question ' Has your BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator provided you with an Enterprise Activation password, then next.
> In the email section I add the emal address that I would like to use, In this case it being [email address]
> Then enter the password that is registered to the googlemail email address
> The Pin is already filled in with '255D7245'
> I finally click activate

After a minute or so I recieve the following message:

'Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable'

Thank you so much.

Darren

Are you on the company BES? If so, there could be an IT Policy on the device preventing it. You should talk to your BES Admin to see what is allowed and what isn't and also to find out what they can monitor and what they do not see.

IMHO, if you have a company provided device and they are paying the bills, it is not a good idea to put your personal data on it. If you need your personal mail, contacts, calendar, etc., then get your own personal device.

Thanks

BES is BlackBerry Enterprise Server. It is used by corporations/agencies to sycn BlackBerry devices with Exchanges, Lotus Notes, and GroupWise.

The password is not the password of your email, but the password the BES Admin created for your account.

I think you're extremely confused and need to consult your IT department. Why would your employer hand you a BlackBerry without having it setup for you?
