Default 8900 Problem. Please help.

Please Login to Remove!

Dear all,

I am new to this forum, and am currently having a problem with my Curve 8900. It was previously water damaged, however the indicator does not show that it has been in contact with water, but even so the phone was left in rice for over a period of time.

I am able to start it up via putting the battery in and then being directed to the menu. From there I can scroll 360degrees, but none of the buttons work (this includes keyboard, lock button, volume buttons, mute etc) and I cannot click with the trackball.

Is there a working fix for this problem? Or should I say which parts need to be replaced? I'm hoping it is not the motherboard...hard to find.

If any more detail is needed please let me know. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Sounds to me like the water fried the keyboard and also damaged other areas. I seriously doubt that it is worth fixing and probably cheaper than trying to fix it as well.

Thanks for your reply.

I have the access to cheap replacement parts, but I'm guessing even if I replace my trackball and keyboard it wont work? Or is it the logic board/main chasis with the keyboard membrane and all that?

Many thanks.

I don't know since I have not seen the device, but using past experience, most likely not worth the effort, cheap parts aren't going to help.

Thank you so much for replying again.

Will a picture help?

I will try my last efforts with a corner shop (since the phone was free) so investing in a bit wont be too bad

Thanks again.
