Not true. Many mobile law enforcement applications need the speed a modern data network provides. It's not just about voice anymore. Nextel was great in the days of sub par voice systems. As digital voice becomes more of the norm, Nextel is becoming less and less relevant in law enforcement.

No - they swapped spectrum to create guard bands in the 800 MHz bands to help protect public sector.

You need to read the financial reports Sprint - since Nextel doesn't exist - isn't in any financial problems....

And both Sprint and Nextel are in big trouble financially as their market base shrinks.

Didn't he US Government buy a lot of Nextel's bandwidth because it interfered with local law enforcement and emergency responders system?

I do read the financial news. Every day. Swapping post paid customers for pre paid (Boost) is not a sustainable business model. Sprint has already tried to sell off what remains of Nextel. No takers.

Buying Virgin Mobile gives them access to more pre paid business. That is 180 degress different than the solid Nextel business they used to have.

If you dont like the 8350I or the service, then dont get it. I have it because it serves my needs, i make and receive phonecalls just like any other carrier. I did not get a phone for internet surfing, I use my computer for that.
