Default hourglass of death

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
I have a big problem with my Pearl 8100 for t-mobile. I have the hourglass of death. I've read everything about this on various forums and how to use various apps such as JL commander and such to wipe the unit. The problem I'm having is that I can't get the computer to recognize the blackberry long enough to wipe anything. Everytime the BB resets, the PC tries to load in the drivers and such for the unit. I can get it to recognize the unit with desktop manager but it then disconnects when the BB restarts before I can do anything.

Is there anyone out there that knows what the heck I can do with this?

Thanks in advance,
Todd

Sounds like you're in a very bad spot. I had this happen to me once a while back. Can you get another battery to try in the device? Also remove sd card if present.

Other than those two can't think of anthing else.

it sounds like this might be a problem with the usb connector on the device, OR some kind of faulty circuit on the mainboard....

you may want to look into using Crackmem rather than JL.

not sure wat else could b wrong....

Some people have been able to fix this using a second computer, so you may want to try that. Just load the software you want to use on the new computer, plug your BB in to one of the REAR integrated usb ports. Don't use add-on ports or hubs.

I think i can help. Same happened with me when i upgraded my software from 4.2 to 4.5. My phone kept rebooting and desktop manager was not able to recognise the same. Hence I decided to downgrade the software but not able to as DM was not connecting. Hence I removed entire desktop manager and BB firmware from my system. Reinstalled only 4.2 firmware (did not reinstall DM). Deleted vendor.xml file.
then rebooted the phone and immediately connected to system and launched APPLOADER file situated in C:\\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\RESEARCH IN MOTION\APPLOADER folder. System automatically recognises the same and starts downgrading the software. Then it worked fine. you might try to downgrade this way it will surely help.
