Default email filter?

Please Login to Remove!

hi, im sure theres an easy way to do this and im just not seeing it..... Ive searched here and looked at the "help" on the actual BB.

This last "xxxxxx" email was the last draw, I decided to set a filter based on this to emails coming in from my hotmail account. Thing is, when I highlight the message theres no options for filters anywhere. help?

best bet is to set the filter up in your hotmail account online, just mark it as spam or block the sender. You can set up filters on your BIS website to only filter whats forwarded, but this can be tedious. Use the same steps as the thread about blocking sent items from being delivered for gmail, but set the filter to block the from email address or however you want to do it.

Agreed with above. I too have yahoo and gmail as email to the device and thankfully have not had much spam. It's all in how those services handle the spam. If you have it actually showing up in your "in box" then you'll get it to the device. Thankfully gmail and yahoo put it in the spam or bulk folders so they don't forward to the device. Maybe you can set hotmail to divert the spam to a bulk/junk folder and that won't deliver to the device.

The filters on the BIS website work best to allow select people through. I've found that works like a charm for work emails as I tend to get 40+ messages a day just with work so my top few customers and internal employees are the only people that actually get filtered TO the device. Everybody else will get their reply when I'm actually available or during business hours.

Thanks for the replys, i do have a gmail account and your right, no spam yet. but ive had this hotmail account for like 12 years and sorta want to hang on to it for some reason haha.

I just hate actually going to the site and signing on and stuff hahaha, ok off to explore the bowels of my hotmail account.

I wish I could tell the device: delete all emails containing "xxxxxx Male Enhancment" etc.

Default oh darn....

I was hoping there was an easy answer to this one. If I get one more 'Hot Bored Housewives Want You Now' spam email I'll scream I wouldn't mind but I'm female... grrrr

I don't use hotmail. I have my own domain/website and 2 business email addresses which goes via the servers belonging the web company who host for me. My PC email spam is blocked with Cloudmark, which is very effective.

Problem is I have no clue as to how to set up spam blockers for my Blackberry. I don't even use my PC screenBlackberry Manager because makes no sense and comes with zero instructions. Have no problem managing my Curve tho'.

I'm not non-techy, I just get bored rigid by IT language and garbled instructions when my job - as a copywriter - is to aim for clarity!

Help.

1) If you want to use a free email account, go with Gmail. Far and away the best out there for spam filtering.

2) If you have a hosted domain, use Postini (which was recently purchased by Google). Outstanding spam filtering.
