Default Problem with "edge" showing on pearl 8100

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
I have just purchased a pearl 8100(unlocked) and have subscribed to data services from vodafone India. The problem I am getting is that the "edge" symbol is always in smalls. I tried my Sim in another bb device and it shows as "EDGE". Not surely what could be the problem. I was able register email on the BIS server and also tried to push the service data information to my device. It did not help. The vodafone technicians have been very helpful in diagnosing the issue. The current version is 4.2.051 platform 2.2.0.32. Will and upgrade resolve the "edge" issue or is there any other way to fix this problem.

I have tried the following so far
1. Register now using the host routing table
2. hard reset the phone
3. Requesting the service provider to reset my profiles

None of the solutions have helped
Pls help with you immense knowledge on this issue
Thanking all of you in advance

Cheers!!!

Wirelessly posted (8100 Pearl)

Upgrading is a good idea. Don't know if it will fix the edge problem though.

once unlocked = always unlocked installing a new OS will not relock your BB.
