Default Completely Wiping and re-install OS

Please Login to Remove!

I have a bunch of weird files on my device memory. I used some third party application loader to add a bunch of (I Think) .cod files after installing the new 5.0 OS. Phone's not recognizing them. I think I just want to start over and not do anything stupid. How should I remove EVERYTHING and start over?

Check the sticky at the top of the 8300 section. There should be a thread there with the latest OS for your specific device and for the instructions on how to reinstall the OS.

Make sure that you have a back up before you proceed, just in case.

Be patient as it takes an hour or more to do its thing.

And remember, any 3rd party apps will have to be reinstalled afterward and you will also need to resend all of your service books once complete.

I'm not doubting your knowledge, seeing as you're a moderator and read these boards alot, but I believe one of us has a misunderstanding and it is most likely me. But every OS update I have done in the past has kept all of my apps in tact. Seems like it is just overwriting the old data and not replacing that which is not integrated into the OS. Are there any FOR SURE ways to delete all my old files, have a completely blank handheld and do a fresh install? Simmilar to a computer where you format, repartition, and there is not one spec of data that can interfere with the install? Thus leaving only the minimal components and more room for additionals later?

You're correct, if you have data on your device, the upgrade process makes a backup of the data and restores it. This will include third party applications as well.

Wipe the device with JL_Cmder. This will remove the OS, all data, and all apps from the device. It will leave the device with a JVM 507 error. When you install the new OS, it won't have any data to backup or restore. You will be left with a stock device. Like you just received it out of the box.

As Dubdub was saying, you will lose all of your contacts and data. That is why he recommended a backup.

What is a good app to load and view my contacts on? I have a big list, many of which are non existent numbers. It's be much easier to add the ones I still use instead of deleting the old. I will be sure to make a full back up though just incase.

Many people sync to Outlook. You can make the edits in Outlook and then sync back to your device.

Uhm... Can't find apploader or vendor.xml at all...

Win 7 x64

not in prog files
not in %appdata% roaming or local
Hidden files are off so all is visible

Not showing up in widows search.

I'm screwed now, aren't I? DM wants to update to 4.5 I have 5.0 downloaded and installed

White screen with Reload Software: 507 is displayed as it should be.

What version of 5.0 do you have installed?

The one posted above. My apologies. I found the correct folder. My device had 5.0 previously and now loader.exe says there are no OS for my device.

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR12.

Sounds like you have a vendor.xml file somewhere.
