I tried to use this but a couple of my friends can't reply to email sms messages, their phones doesn't have the reply option when it's an email.. weird. So I had to get an sms plan, costs a bundle too :(

Yes it does work! I have an att 7280, att simcard, no data service on that unit, yet it works like a charm. Hope this helps. Incidently, ATT only charges for outgoing messages, unlimites incoming SMS, so I have used teleflip.com as forwarding address for one of my gmail accounts. Now I can receive short emails wirelessly with no fees. Groovy

To the Nextel peeps above... I have a 7100i with Nextel and can reply to SMS messages just fine. The messages even come in and resolve against the name in my phonebook. The message icon is slightly different, I think it has a small blue triangle in it. Anyway, I can reply just fine or originate new ones (although the phone menu calls it MMS, even though it's just text).

I tried to send myself a test text message this way to my US Cellular phone and it didn't work. I also cannot send myself text messages thru yahoo messenger text messages. I called there customer service and they said they don't support text messages that way. That sucks.

My wife now has a V360. We can SMS just fine except I don't have a plan.

Her emails to me now come like the attached image. I read them ok on my BB but my responses to her arrive in a attachment. Anyone know how I can disable the stationary background on her V360 or can force my BB to send txt?

• No SMS Plan Needed: SMS is purely optional with a BlackBerry. You can send SMS by email instead of using SMS. Or you can just stick to email if you only need to communicate using email.

correction: hard of hearing folks love to use phone... deaf people don't. theres a difference here.

I don't use phone. I use the voice barred plan with TMobile for $29 a month. Not bad. And of course its unlimit data. I send and recieve over 100 emails a day with my 7290.

Building penetration is best with BB than any other pagers including that inferior Sidekick II. I still can send and revcieve emails in my kids' gym when many had to go outside to make calls. Many envy BB users.

1st Off I LOVE THE BBFORUMS! It has made the BlackBerry the VERY BEST phone on PLANET EARTH!

Here's my Issue - I have a Nextel 7520 (had the 7100i, but ditched it due to sure type and the small screen)

I am running the 4.1os which supports text messaging, but my bill is around $200 extra each month for Text Messaging add ons, also I go over my minutes every month so operating costs for the 7520 are over $500 each month.

This is with the current (02/05/07) Nextel Plan (which does NOT offer Unlimited Text) @ $0.10 each message, this year they plan on going to $0.15 and by next year $0.20 each message.

So I was told there is a program that will convert your text messages to an email then back to a text message (for phones that do not have a web browser). IS THIS TRUE? The Rumor is it makes ALL TEXT MESSAGES FREE FOREVER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Has ANYONE ever heard of this? What is the Program? How does it "really" work?

It did not work for me here in Italy with TIM, I got this back "DNS Hard error looking up timnet.com (A): DOMAIN HAS NO A RECORD" thought it sounded too good to be true!!!
