Default Wireless Calender Synchronization

I have just installed BES 4.0 and configured it to redirect email to my bb. Have found how to turn on everything but Wireless Calender Synchronization. How is this done?? Do the handheld have to be running the 4.0 version of the OS?? Thanks.

Wireless calendar was the other thing that could sync wirelessly in the previous versions. I always turned it on through Desktop Manager, with Intellisync/Configure PIM. Wireless Blackberry Sync is an option for Calendar.

I think the handheld does need 4.0 for this to work correctly, but under the BB BES Manager, you should find the wireless calendar sync options under IT Policy rules (at least for groupwise BES 4 that's where it is). Address book, tasks, memos, and email reconsiliation is all under user properties though. Calendar is the only one you have to make an IT Policy to modify.

OS 4.0 is not needed for Wireless Calendar Synch. I'm on 3.8 and it works fine. I have tested with 3.6 (6710) and 3.7 (7230) and it works fine, as well. Its just a software setting, as dpeters11 mentioned.

The one key to getting it to work immediately is to click on Synchronize Now after you make the PIM changes (on the Intellisync screen with Configure PIN button). After that, it should work fine.

For Address Book, Tasks, Memo Pad, etc to synchronize, it does require OS 4.0.

I get the following message when I tried to turn this feature on from desktop manager:

Your mail server does not support wireless synchronization.

Any idea what the requirements are? We are running off an Exchange server.

Try checking IT policies for calendar sync info.

He meant IT Policy for the BES.

We are using the default policy. "Disable Wireless Calendar" is unchecked. Any ideas?

Could it be because I am running 4.0 handset software, 4.0 Desktop software and 3.6 BES?

Not sure, I've never played with pre-4.0 versions of BES. Have you tried tech support from RIM?

ngeller,

When I installed BES 4.0 everything was working except the Calender. After calling Blackberry support I realized I had not properly set up a service account and given it the proper priviledges on our Exchange Server. Could this be your issue?
