Default Holsters and Protectors

Please Login to Remove!

I'm looking for some opinions on holsters for the 7290. I don't want a swivel clip, just a belt clip. The BB horizontal Active holster arrived today but boy, is it a tight and awkward fit. I'm just not sure I like it, although I haven't actually used it yet. So, I would appreciate some opinions.

Also, do others use some sort of screen protector for their BBs?

I use the following myself http://store.bizshopr.com/rimacc-05150-001.html if the active holster is anything like the leather ones it just might be a matter of time for it to loosen up and work itself in? I purchased generic Palm screen protectors and cut them to size but JavoEdge make screen protectors specificly for Blackberry's http://www.javoedge.com/simtrix/prod...BlackBerry.jsp

I have a BB7520 and I use the holster (SKU 6064) at this link. It's pretty good for the everyday belt clip holster, and it's pretty comfortable.

The vertical active's fit the 7290 and all of the 72/75xx (yes even the 7520) great. The Horizontal active is more challenging because of the elastic on the lower right of the case. I think the actual fit is fine and comparable to the vertical. Like the leather cases the actives loosen up a bit after you start using them daily.

rcg,

Yes, it's the elastic that is causing the hangup! I bought the horizontal active at SmartPhoneDepot.com. Do you know if I can exchange it for a vertical?

a word to the wise.. i bought the nextel rugged nylon case for my 7520 and it broke my screen... the plastic that the clip is attatched to is more narrow then the screen bezel and when pressure was applied to it my screen cracked. check stuff like that when you buy cases

It's always good to check the fit and design of whatever case you are considering - good advice. But I must say your experience with that case is not typical. We have sold over a thousand of them (NTZ6510) to some serious users like law enforcement, heavy construction, utility companies, paramedics and search and rescue. The feedback we get on them has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm not saying your experience is invalid only that your circumstance may have been unique to cause the damage.

I tested one myself on a 7510 for about 4 months without problems.

If it's "as new" (original packaging etc...) and it's within 15 days.

i dont' know if i'm ever going to use it again... check them yourself to see what i'mt alking about. i work for the cable company so i bought it for when i climb the poles.. i loved it for the first month, but one day i got out of the van and pulled the phone out and there was a vertical crack down one side of the screen.. if you feel the back of the case you can tell where the plastic for the clip would have cracked the screen. except for the fact that the clip didn't swivel though it was a good case... if the plastic mount was made wider to be bigger then the screen i would buy another one... but for now i'll just use the origional case

I have the active rugged case, the leather holster with clip, and a AW case that has a clip which requires you to flip the pda completely upside down in order to remove it from the clip.

But now to my question, I was wondering if anyone has had any expierence with a case like this http://www.speckproducts.com/bb7290.html, I like the idea of it but was wondering if I am better off with egrips. Also I relize these will not be out for the 7520 till june 2005.

Here are some pics of the AW case, just in case someone is looking for a rugged case:

Pink, I like that case, pretty cool! Where did you get yours? The grip case on that site you posted kinda looks like it might protect it some, but wonder if it makes it even more bulkier? Dawg has some grips on his 7520. Can you post a pic of your Dawg?

retail I believe they run around the $35 mark before tax, so about $37. We only carry them to fit the 6500 and 7500 series as of now, since we mainly sell nextel BB's. If you do not want to order it from them I sure we can work something out.

You can check ebay too...there are ALWAYS tons of BB cases..

Also I buy my screen protectors from www.lcdprotector.com - I think they're the best.

BB is not very popular here in Hong Kong so that's why I've just bought one ...
I would like to get a soft case/holster for my 7230. Any ideas as to which pda holster/soft case will provide a good fit. We have shops with stacks of these cases and it is time consuming and frustrating taking each one off the shelf to test for fit and snugness.
