I came from a 8700c and I am very happy with the Curve. Videos are great and I love the camera.

just doing the migration right now from 8800 to curve.
couple of things are different:
now you can block SMS, MMS or complete BIS sych together or one at a time.
MISSING: no more two level backlighting. because power button is merger with phone hung up so now i can not press the power button to get soecond level or bight light.
ALARM: if you change anything on this screen it will not ask you to save/discard. ok i guess.
KEYS: i guess they are more plm style or more hard. Miss those silky keys from 7290 days -
Camera: I wish there was a way to disable it or atleast the shutter noise.

So far, so good with mine. Had a Pearl, thought I could "trade up" for the iPhone. BIG MISTAKE!!! Then I saw the Curve.....oh boy. It's everything the Pearl was PLUS and nothing the iPhone is! Thrilled beyond belief!

i'm starting to see LOADS of lag. Sometimes there's up to a five second delay when i click send. It just freezes on the menu then continues.

I'm not going to do a swap just yet, but if this continues I'm going to swap my hardware. I might just reinstall my OS.

Anyone with Rogers units having issues?

To all 10:

After using mobile phones from 1992 on (intriduction of GSM in Germany) I only miss WiFi on my Curve. It's the best cellphone/smartphone I ever used and I just recently ditched my eten Gloofish M700 with sliding keyuboard, WiFi, GPS, update of Windows Mobile 6, etc. for it. Even with WM 6 it is no match how esy and quick I am with my curve. Best phone I ever had and I had plenty...Motorola, Ericsson, Nokia, SonyEricsson, Sagem, i-mate, eten, you name it, I always found something missing.

for me, the Curve is THE phone (currently, haha)...

Regards,
Ralf

No issues here - using BES...

First big difference I see is that battery life is incredible. I left my BT headset paired with it actively all night and only lost 5% battery. It is true what others have said - after about a week of charging/draining/re-charging the battery life gets substantially better.

This is the best BB yet - and I have a full keyboard without that "why am I holding a calculator to my head" feeling.

I'm using a Rogers 8300 and I grabbed mine from the first batch the store had delivered. Overall the Curve has been running smoothly for me and I give it a full 2-thumbs-up!

1. Call quality
- Greatly improved over my Pearl and probably the best quality on any other device i've used.

2. Handset microphone
- Everybody has said they can hear me loud and clear. My girlfriend said she can hear me a lot better on my Curve than she could on my Pearl.

3. Screen clarity
- Screen is very bright and it seems to be more visible in the sunlight than my Pearl. Plus it's much larger so that's a huge plus.

4. Construction/build quality of the device
- Build quality is ok. Not great and not poor. After having it for a few weeks now the right side railing seems to have a bit of give. Not really a big deal to me though.

5. Camera quality (overall picture quality)
- Picture quality is much much much better than the Pearl. Even in poorly lit conditions the pictures come out ok. Pretty good camera for a BB as far as I'm concerned.

6. Battery life
- Great! For me it lasts longer than my Pearl battery did. Plus with the leather pocket sleeve i'm able to to conserve on even more battery life.

7. Internet & E-mail speeds
- Seems faster than my Pearl. Not too sure about emails but webpages definitely load faster.

8. Input tools (trackball, keyboard, buttons)
- Love the full QWERTY keyboard. Took some time to get used to after the SureType on my Pearl but now after a few weeks of using i'm totally loving it!

9. Ringers & Speaker phones
- The speaker on the Curve is so much better than what was on the Pearl. It's super loud and clear. Speaker phone is also very crisp.

10. Operating System performance
- O/S runs smoothly and haven't had any problems. Running the latest Optus 4.2.2.222/4.2.2.114 version. The media loads up much quicker than the Pearl and overall the OS performance is great.

Coming from an 8700r, here are my observations:

1. Call quality - about the same
2. Handset microphone - no issues
3. Screen clarity - very clear, vibrant display
4. Construction/build quality of the device - probably a tad more flimsy than the 8700
5. Camera quality (overall picture quality) - great for a camera phone
6. Battery life - a little less life than the 8700, but I charge every night so not an issue
7. Internet & E-mail speeds - same speed over EDGE
8. Input tools (trackball, keyboard, buttons) - love the trackball
9. Ringers & Speaker phones - no issues
10. Operating System performance - the OS seems a bit more sluggish, but I think it is all the extra features in the OS. After upgrading the 8700 to 4.2, it seems a bit slower too.

I should probably add another point

11. Bluetooth - far better integration of Bluetooth. Better range, better functionality, and better sound quality using a BT headset. Some is due to the OS, but I think the Bluetooth 2.0 hardware is much better as well.

I am sort of amazed at how bug-free this phone has been for me after over almost two months of use. I have had really simple mobile phones that have been perfect right out of the box, but it seems that as I moved into more and more feature-filled devices...I also moved into more and more issues. But, not so with the 8300...at least not for me.

In fact, neither my 8300 or 8800 have presented any problems whatsoever. Maybe I'm just lucky...or bought them from the right "batch"...but I am very much more satisfied overall with BlackBerry devices than I have ever been with any from any other manufacturer. And, I have owned MANY mobile phones/devices.

Looks like I'll be sticking with BlackBerry for a long while...

i really like mine. i have a treo 700p as well and i just love the size of the 8300. i'm still getting used to it and learning the short cut keys. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it over time. By any chance, is there a listing of shortcuts somewhere??

btw: the internet is a lot faster on the treo, enough to bother me.

the panel with the volume buttons is somewhat loose and so the buttons feel more pressed than normal. and my incoming emails through Exchange server seem to range from 2 to 13 minutes before i get it on my Curve.

other than these, i am happy with it. until i learned of the new curve with wi-fi...

i kinda miss suretype too. sometimes.

Works great here. Don't like the dust under the screen. It was fine at first. I hear it is a pretty common porb.

I have no issues with my curve. I've had it since June 1. No dust, trackball or other issues.

Mine is working well, but my signal kept dropping on some areas at my house, I've never experience this problem with my 8700g. So, I'm thinking of getting a repeater.

Mine is working fine, but I'll go through the list in a week or two and see how it compares then.

I'm coming from a 2 year old nokia 6620, so the screen is amazing.

One thing I found weird... I logged on to aim via media net earlier today and closed out... but it didn't sign out and kept it active. Just noticed when I arrived home and IM'd someone on aim, as it sent me a notification.

mine works great, the only small complaint is that I have a bit a creaking on the bottom where the AT&T is printed. but My wife's Curve doesn't do that and works just fine. other than that everything is great!!
