Default Chrome sides replacement

Please Login to Remove!

Well as you all know the chrome sides on the Pearl gets scratched really easily. What I'm wondering is if there are any places that sell Pearl parts, or if there are ways to get the scratches off (which I really doubt). At first I didn't mind the scratches but after I had one more, I couldn't take this one. Any input will be helpful, thanks.

Did you try getting the parts from a dummy phone?

I wonder if they can be spray painted. First put some automotive primer (that stuff sticks to anything) and then hit it with spray paint.

I was debating spray painting my entire phone with the krylon ultra-flat black spray paint. Have used it on numerous other plastic items similar to the phone and it has stuck well.

I just couldn't get the side panels to pop off using the prying tool. Did manage to dent the side panels enough to say screw it and now thinking of just masking off the entire front phone and spraying it.

Well, painting plastic takes a lot more work than just spraying it if you want it to not come off in a week. You have to sand it and sand it and sand it, to get the paint to stay on really well and even then it scratches pretty easily.

I wouldn't recommend spray painting the 'entire' phone unless you know what you are doing. If you do proceed to paint the entire phone then made sure you tape up the screen well or else you wont be able to see through it! And one last note: I really don't recommend painting the keypad

Wondering if you took the 4 screws out before trying to get the side pieces off?

Has anyone emailed BlackBerry Repair Shop - A full line of RIM BlackBerry repair services and BlackBerry parts for all BlackBerry handheld devices about the sides? They might have them or they might be able to get them?
I don’t understand why no one has made a case replacement yet. Seems like the phone has been out for almost 6 months someone would be on that. I would like to see a silver or red Perl

I haven't scyislly seen this site before so I didn't bother but I do think that there is a common issue, ygr chroome sides mess up way too easily and we all want to be able to replace it. I'll look around and email that site now hopefully being able to get em out.

I too want to replace the side panels of my Pearl. The one side has play in it when I squeeze it. Crappy...

Someone needs to make rubber-textured side panels so the damn phone doesn't slip off my hands. Similar to the rubberized texture of the Motorola RIZR phones.

That would be cool.

Yes, once you remove the 4 screws, the two chrome sides snap off rather easily. =)
