Default Any Push-to-Talk People out there?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my Blackberry Pearl in today. I am going to keep my 8700 for messaging and auxiallary voice until the release of the 8800, at which point my 8700 will be decommissioned

But I do not know anyone that uses PTT on Cingular. I am wondering if there are any out there?

I have PTT on my pearl. It works ok, but its not worth the extra money when you get mobile to mobile for free. Now if you could PTT with other networks, i'd keep it around. Save your money, don't get PTT.

My wife and I just switched to Cingular from Verizon and we are both using the Blackberry Pearl. We primarily switched to Cingular for the PTT service. Verizon has PTT however all of it's push to talk phones are old models and none support Bluetooth which was essential for us.

A lot of folks think the PTT features is just a gimmick and that it is useless but my wife and I find it quite practical for quick conversations and a means to relay information to each other. We have five children so there is always a lot of noise at our house. I was finding that when I would call my wife our conversations would be "cut out" by noise in the background. With PTT it is much easier to have a conversation as one person is speaking at a time and we are not "walking" on each others transmission.

I find the PTT service quite speedy and reliable.

I have the PTT and I like it. When you make the initial "call" to the person it basically dials them and there is a couple of second delay. After that the transmissions appear to be instant. It's not Nextel, but it's not bad.

I just bought Cingular 8100 after being on Tmobile with 8100. I unlocked Tmobile device and tried to get it to have same features and functions on Cingular to no avail, so I ended up buying Cingular unit. PTT is a great feature as I am formerly a Nextel customer however I have no idea who is on PTT to even test this now on Cingular.

I ordered it on all 6 of my company Pearls but I turned it off after less than a week because it do not work well. Maybe they will work the bugs out one day but do not expect anything like Nextel. We all used Nextel and their PTT before we move to Cingular and Nextel PTT ROCKS. Problem was my company got bigger and alot of our customers were now off the beaten path where we had no Nextel service. CIngular had full or near full bars! After 8 years I moved everyone to Cingular.

No regrets here but Cingular PTT needs alot of work!

I think Cingular has a long ways to go before they catch up to the Nextel PTT.

I hope Cingular, and everyone else for that matter, doesn't get as "good" as Nextel. If there were a restruant within 50 miles that served slop and had bad service but had a 'NO NEXTEL' policy, I would eat there as much as possible. I hate goofy ringtones and obnoxious speakerphone conversations, but my blood pressure shoots up every time I hear that stupid chirping followed by some loud, unintelligable (usually not important) conversation.

I hate Nexthell!

Wasn't going to say it but will absolutely not disagree.

PTT is so dissapointing. If nobody else you know has it, then there is no point to it. When cingular pushed this out they should have given it out to people for free with a certain plan, then maybe I would have somebody to PTT with. Nobody I know wants to pay $10 a month for that service.:(

I have/use the PTT feature on my account with a few friends and co-workers. It's not too bad, it's easy when we are out in the field at a one of the station's tower sites, or doing live broadcasts, but for the most part, if you aren't going to use it regularly, then don't worry about activating it. It sometimes locks up, and doesn't release the first connection. It's kind of a pain that you have to end the PTT, then reconnect, but nothing's perfect I guess.

As a formal and happy Nextel user, I can't imagine AT&T's PTT being even close to what Nextel offered (offers). I was informed I get charged if I attempt to use the feature on my Pearl, so I haven't. What's the delay like?

The first delay of the connect from one phone to another is about 10 seconds, but once it's connected, before I can even finish the first word, it's playing back what I said through the other phone. I think it's done off of the regular voice network. It's clear too. REALLY clear.

Default I to am dying to try it out

I haven't activated it yet but I love to. Just haven't because I'm in the same situation as you of no one try it out with. Maybe I might take the plunge if I had some one to converse with on a daily basis. Let's start a tread for push to talk maybe like there is for pin messaging. Anyone for that.

I would be up for a PTT conversation if there were more people interested in getting a group or something of that nature started.
