Hey,

I'm a user of the 8800 which enables me to send voice notes through to users on my bb messenger list.... But today i tried sending one to a friend who has the 8100 Pearl (I'm pretty sure that's the only pearl so far?) and they can't seem to get it at all...

Is the pearl not capable? If not, are there any updates or something that can make it work? From what I see the only way to communicate to a pearl with any sort of voice stuff is through MMS.. Which is not as convenient (and costs money), as the 8800

We can communicate using the regular text responses in BB Messenger, but she can't hear (or seem to get any sort of notification) when I send a voice note

Is the Pearl capable of sending/receiving voice notes on BB messenger?

(PS: Right now, I'm on the BB Messenger typing back and forth with her as I type this, trying to figure it out on the forum, so the data plan definitely lets her use BB messenger.. just the voice capabilities doesnt seem to be there... )

What version of the OS is the Pearl user running? I could be mistaken but it may require OS v4.2.1 to send voice notes over BBM.

Well it's good to know that it can work with the Pearl.. I'm still getting her to dig up the OS version

After you upgrade to it it's automatically in the options to send one? On BBM?

Yes. You can't be in a multi-contact conversation, though. It must be a conversation with only one other person.

Do you know which upgrade file we should use.. The phone isn't on like Cingular or ATT or any of those other ones, it's in Jamaica where the they don't have a specific upgrade one for itself.. Is there a generic one that'll work?
