BB Bold 9700 - bought 9/01/2010

Hi i am new to this forum and thought i would start my first post with the postives:
--> Never had a BB before and find it a great little thing and easy to use!
--> Great connection where ever i am
--> Easy to use keyboard
--> Messaging is easy and great

And many more

but the bad things or the things i dont like about it is that on my BB i find that:
(1) When the backlight is on the keys, key 2 and Alt seem to be faded
(2) The alarm every time you plug the charger in!

I don't see either of these... all of the keys seem to be uniformly illuminated by the backlight...

and NO alarm when I plug my phone into the charger.

ive managed to sort out the alarm problem was in the alarm settings (set alarm when charge pluged in)

all the buttons light up but key 2 and alt just seem to be that little bit darker

No. I never bothered to look that closely.

I assume the buttons work when you press on them, and that while they may be a "little bit darker," they still have backlighting. So to answer your question: no. Not a dodgy handset. It's just not as flawless as you would like.

If it makes you feel any better, my 9700 also has some buttons on the keypad that are not as bright as others. As with yourself, the number 2 key, but a few others exibit this as well. I suspect there are a large percentage of handsets that are the same whether people "see it" or not.

Also, the paint on the blackberry logo button and back button (both next to the trackpad) have paint missing on the part of the button that turns down into the handset. Eg. not the surface where the logos/icons are. It is easy to see because the backlight shines through.
