To my knowledge the exclusive started when Cingular delivered which was mid/late November. We're quibbling over a couple weeks either way though!
All I know is that I want TMo to release this thing already!

I'll probably get shot for saying this; however, it's almost ironic... I've been following this device very closely for a long time thinking it was going to be the one for me...
...but when it all boils down to it (IMHO) it's the same s@#! in a different case with a faster processor. I can't see what the big deal is about it -- our 7100's are already on OS4.1 -- there's nothing of any major import coming on this device except a full-sized thumbpad and EDGE connectivity.
After seeing a co-worker's MDA up close and fully customized, I'm seriously considering getting one. I'm going to hold off to the 8700 launch, though, just to be sure.

Yes buts its the same amzingly stable - easy to navigate - rock solid *&%*&% in a new case with a better screen and a faster proc. The MDA is pretty I admit but it runs an unstable OS doesnt have email push and really just has more toys - you want toys the BB isnt the tool for you. I have a 7100t running 4.1 and its great - but the proc is very slow and the screen is not great.

Let me preface this by saying I love my 8700. But, I was using the XDA IIs, the predecessor for the MDA and for the six months that I had the damned thing, I loved it. The Windows Mobile (grew out of Windows CE) platform is not that unstable. Have I had to reboot it? Of course, but I've never had a device, be it RIM, Palm or whomever that I've not had to reset/reboot a few times. In my mind, the MDA and BB are serving different markets with different needs and surely nobody is saying their needs are superior to others.

I know all this is speculation at this point , as NO ONE knows the actual date until it is press released, BUT I too, work for a company that has a corporate account with Tmo. I asked the girl to ask about the 8700 and when its release would be. She came back with LATE APRIL. Who the heck knows at this point. I wish it was here like yesterday!!

Doesn't that jive with jibi's 4/20? The 20th day of the month being LATE in the month?

Why is everyone waiting for Tmo's 8700 and not getting Cingular's? Is the service that much better?

Service is debatable, but T-Mo has much better pricing...Besides some people may be in contracts or they just like T-Mo.

It only SEEMS like everyone's "waiting" for the T-Mobile version because... well, that's the next carrier to release it.
To a lesser degree, but nonetheless, I'm sure the boards will be crazy with similar threads when other carriers begin letting us know they'll be releasing it as well.

I need to be able to send from several different email addresses, and T-Mobile is the only one that allows me to do this through BIS right now. Plus, I don't want to pay extra to be able to tether my laptop to my blackberry.
Besides, I refuse to give Cingular a penny. A few years ago I had a cell phone plan with them, and they used to randomly overcharge me for absolutely nothing. The funniest was when they used to charge me for roaming when I made a call from the next town over. When I spoke to the reps they would tell me that it was out of my area. Nevermind that I had the entire east coast (including all of NJ) as my coverage plan! Needless to say, they really pissed me off, and I dumped them as soon as that contract was over.

In addition to pricing as already pointed out by others, TMo's customer service is truly awesome whereas Cingular/AT&T's totally blows. It's pretty widely accepted.

Not to mention that many seem to prefer the dark blue housing that this 8700 is said to have as opposed to the 8700c's housing.

Right now to check gmail I have to go to the web page and it is a pain. I use work's Verizon 7750 (they want it back during my extended leave hence this shopping trip). It would be nice to be able to check several addresses at once.
Tethering, YES! Is that with the 8700 however! I tether my personal Sprint phone, which offers -NO- service in international locations I will be traveling to. Does Cingluar charge for tethering? I see that Cingular has a flat rate international data price ($69.99) but Tmo wants a per/kb price. That can hurt early and often.
