Remember NJBlackberry say "Last week of March/Early April". I can wait if he is right or not. Smile.

They canceled the 8700g. Didn't like the color. Sorry.

All you guys with strong TMo corporate account connections and reps: what will the price be for existing subs (i.e. no contract subsidy)?

TIA,
TM

as of last week, no price had been set (might be different today). it is speculated that its going to be in the $299 range for renewals/new subs and $399 for existing subs, from what i'm hearing.

Default 8700 tmo price

Just talked to my local TMO store. Here is the pricing they gave me

Currently with TMO

1yr renewal = $399
2yr renewal = $399 plus $50 rebate = $349

Pretty pricey if you ask me, considering I got my 7100t for $199 the day it came out.

Just got off from T-Mobile phone (@11:45am). Here is the quick message.

"The device should be aviable in retail stores by April 15th but will be not be available for an upgrade until around July/August/September 2006 (T-Mobile Handset Upgrade Program). The retail store, it will be $399.99 right now when it first comes out."

Well thats that then - I have to go with the MDA. $399 just to pricey for a renewal.

Damn I really liked the look of the 8700 as well , but I cant justify that price/feature ratio.

Anyone have any idea what the price will be without contract renewal? Maybe $450 or $500?

Thanks.

I interpreted Jibi's post above to be that it would be $399 for current customers within contract and $299 for current subscribers out of contract and renewing, or new subscribers.

Ussually to attract customers they offer the lower price to the new customer that is signing on for the first time, so I read it just the opposite, $299 for brand new customers, $399 with contract renewal, and possibly upwards of that for no contract in the $499 range, but that is my interpretation based on what I have seen as past history, definitely not based on any hard evidence.

I have see it online listed for $199 for new activation with a $100 rebate...End total is $99 new activation only. That is also a preorder price only. www.ushopwireless.com

I can't wait till it comes out though.

My 7100T just broke last weekend...and I purchased a 7105T, and I am thinking about taking it back before the 14 days are up, and getting a 8700 on April 15th.

This means, I will have to use my black and white, 6200 series BB from way back in the day until the time being. This is really a drag, because it doesnt have speaker or bluetooth, which means I cannot connect it to my car (Acura TL), or my bluetooth headset.

Does everyone here honestly think $400 is justified for the BB8700G -- that is honestly the max I will pay for it, considering the last time I replaced my handset device was 33 months ago!

I guess i am anxiously waiting like everyone else here

This is what I was looking for (thanks for the other info though). I'm out of contract and have no desire to get back in contract, so I need the price to buy one outright...

TIA,
TM

Just heard from my T-Mobile Rep, who is the National Senior Account Manager and he said that while the official date is April 17th, there is a *chance* it could be moved up "closer to April 1st". MSRP will be $399, so dont expect to pay any more than that despite your contract status. He said the chances of it being offered in the upgrade program is slim since its going to be new and a hot item.
