You're kidding, right?
Why would a full sized keyboard NEED to use Suretype.
Are you serious?

SHort answer - the problem was limited to a bad batch during a particular production run. All new units (and many original units) should be fine.

Correction; the "Avatar" is the picture the user chooses to have on his post. The quote you are referring to is randomly chosen each time you sign on. The user has nothing to do with what it says.

Isn't the quote based on how many/how often you post?

This is the original design of BB that RIM posted almost a year ago and this is the one I like the most so far. I would love to get one as soon as it gets out.
Keys and design is better.

Kind of correct. The "title" below a person's name and above their avatar is determined based on the number of posts that person has. Nothing more, nothing less.

so its just straight black. Thats better than the 8700C then. Dont have to worry about scratching the paint off when you drop it. My old 7290 looked new after dropping it multiple times. You have to baby the 8700C to keep its grey-blue paintjob from being damaged.

I believe its been stated by those who already have the 8700g or have seen them, that the housing is a very dark blue, not black. Either way, I agree that it is a sharper looking device than the 8700c.

Just wanted to tell you guys that I received my 8700g on Thursday, and LOVE IT. It was well worth the wait. I highly recommend picking one up as soon as you can.

For anyone else that has the 8700g, have you put a screen protector on it? And if so, which one? I'm trying to find out if the one from Invisible Shield fits nicely on the 8700g. Anyone know?

Thanks,
Todd

I have a friend who purchased one after switching to T-Mobile through ushopwireless and she let me play around with her 8700g for a couple of hours today (she's not a technofreak like me and didn't understand why I was so jazzed about it).

Anyway, I was most impressed by the browser speed on the Edge network. This friend's husband has a 7130e with EVDO, but the 8700g seemed just as fast downloading web pages. Again, it was amazing!

Can't wait until next Monday!
