Default Keyboard Lock - Quickly?

Please Login to Remove!

Just picked up by first BB, the 8700g, yesterday. It's fantastic! Can't believe I held on to that Treo650 for so long!

Anyway, just wondering if there's a faster way to enable the keyboard lock then scrolling down to the icon....????

Thanks in advance!

I set my Side Convenience key to Key Board lock and it is great.

You can search, one of the mods has a list of shortcuts on his web site and it is also in the manuals.

You can have it lock automatically when in the holster or alt-<enter> will do it.

If Dial from Home Screen Is disabled (Phone, Options, General Options), just press K.
Otherwise, press Alt plus the Return key.
Lastly, I have set my Side Convenience Key to Lock which I think is the best method of all.

Does holding down the * key do it? It works on my 7100t, but don't know about the 8700g. I should know tomorrow when mine comes in.

Hmm - same question was asked and answered yesterday. (Hint hint - search).

Several ways:

1) If you have the shortcut keys enabled for the BB (Set Dial From Home Screen to No in the phone options), the pressing the "k" key will lock it

2) Set the center convenience key (Options -> Screen/Keyboard) to lock

3) Press <ALT> <ENTER> will lock it.

Nope. It asks you if you want to assign a Speed Dial to the A key.

That is 7100 specific.
Press and hold the * key on an 8700 and it will dial the Speed Dial number associated with the A key.

I've got dial from home screen enabled and I can still use "k" to lock the keyboard. Using the Bharti OS, surely someone else can do this.

Not me. With Dial from Home Screen enabled, tapping the "k" does nothing (except say Assign a Speed Dial to K key if held).

If I hold "k" down then I can assign a speed dial to it, tapping it just locks the keyboard.
