Default T-Mobile 8700g EDGE

Please Login to Remove!

Something I have noticed is that on Cingular with the 8700 when you turn it on it goes from GSM/edge/EDGE, with T-Mobile it goes GSM/gprs/GPRS then maybe EDGE after a long long time, anyone else noticed this? Very strange I have seen over 10 tmobile devices doing this and not one has ever connected to EDGE right off the bat

I think it's just how t-mo goes through negotiating the signal...

I think it's funny, sitting here with my 8700g sitting on my desk..... It's only getting 1 bar of signal.... but at least it's still EDGE! :P

I think this is due to priority status with all of TMobile USA's SIMS.

Question to valid my comment. Has tmobile launched EDGE as part of their direct equipment on their home network or is it a nationwide contractual agreement.??

I believe it is location based (er, I think this is what you are asking), some places have it, some don't. If your t-mo phone supports it, you get it automatically on a normal GPRS data plan.

When it is in lower case, it means it does not yet have communication with the blackberry server. Once it has checked in with Blackberry, it goes to capitol EDGE. I'm possitive I read that somewhere, I just can't remember if it was on this forum or in the manual.

Mine goes to EDGE right away. I've not noticed any delay.

Depends on location. At work it goes through them, at home it goes straight to EDGE. Just a matter of the signal I guess.

Have you been able to use your 8700c on t-mobile as a modem? I've tried a few times but I keep getting an error message #31.
