Default Browser Unable To Connect

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Everyone,

I am having troubles with my Blackberry Browser. It returns a message:

Unable to connect to the selected Mobile Data Service, please try again later.
If the problem persists please contact your administrator.

If I connect my blackberry to my Desktop Manager, the browser works no problem. I tried searching for a solution on this site, but only could find issues with BES. I do not have BES on my blackberry. Just BIS. I am pretty sure I am just missing a setting somewhere but any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!

Are you using a used device (i.e., you bought it on eBay)? If so, it may have an IT Policy that is forcing it to use a BES-type connection.

Check under Options -> Security Options -> General Settings. Do you see a section for 'IT Policy Name' anywhere?

Thanks for the fast reply. I bought the device new. It is a Blackberry Curve for Sprint. The internet browser has worked in the past. It seemed to start the issue after reinstalling Blackberry Desktop Manager after I got a new computer. My IT Policy Name is:
Default
and my service is:
Desktop [S78871124] (AES).

Then I hate to tell you but that device isn't new. 'Default' is a name of an IT Policy on a BES and the S78871124 is the SRP ID of that server it was attached to.

How long have you had it? If it's not been long, take it back to Sprint and tell them to give you a device that doesn't have an IT Policy on it (and show them that screen).

If longer then the return time, then you can remove the IT Policy yourself here:

I bought the phone from Best Buy probably 8 months to 1 year ago. It worked fine until I was playing around with the Desktop Manager. I probably accidentaly made an IT policy and that's why it won't work anymore. I will follow your link and see if I can get the issue resolved. Thanks!

Reading through the tutorial, it sounds like I probably downloaded Desktop Manager for BES not BIS. I will try to reload it this afternoon. Thank you for your help, I will let you know how it works.

Worked great. I am positive that I downloaded the wrong desktop manager and screwed everything up! Thank a lot for your help!
