Default Question about the 8100 (pearl) charge dock {SOLVED}

Please Login to Remove!

Can anybody here tell me what the polarity is of the pearl’s charge dock is?
Blue Harbor Online - Blackberry Pearl OEM Charging Pod
I ask because I want to build something like that OEM charge dock – I need a charge dock for inside my car and my bedside table (I use my BB as my alarm clock) so really I need to build 2.
My problem is that I don’t know what the polarity is for the two charge pins on the back of the blackberry. I need somebody who (1) knows or (2) has a charge dock and is willing to do a quick test w/ a multimeter or polarity tester.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

EDIT:

i did a bit more searching arround and i found this:

Charge dock wires... - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

its a diagram for the BOLD. I don't see why RIM would change the pin outs from the pearl series to the BOLD series, but i still want to be sure before i risk frying my blackberry.

Ok! i did a little more snooping arround and i sorta got tired of waiting for people here to respond.

after a little more testing, here is what i have found:

1) with the BB's battery facing you, the polarity of the charge pins on teh back match those of the battery. that is, the positive marked on the battery is closest to the positive pin. the negative on the battery is closest to the negative pin.

2) with the screen facing you, the positive contact will be on the left; the same side as the green call key.

3) with the screen facing you, the negative contact will be on the side w/ the red call end key.

i hope this helps anybody looking to make a DIY 81XX series charge dock!

The one he linked to in the OP was only 14.95... for that money, why build one? Tho I'd like one that did the dock, not just the charge.
