Please Login to Remove!

How is everyone finding the trackpad on the 9700? Or do you miss the trackball !!??

checked my mates trackpad and it felt as though it was slightly below then it should be!! Anyone else have that problem?

Also how do you guys keep the screen clean .. A quick puff and wipe with tissue??

Love the trackpad. No issues and have never missed the trackball. Great improvement IMO.

Screen cleaning is accomplished with wet lens wipes and a follow up with a silky dry lens cloth. Same as I used on my Curve.

The trackpad is great. I kept my old BB clean and protected so I never had any trackball problems either.

Interesting. I haven't heard anything about a biometric scanner. Would be interesting nonetheless.

Just upgraded from a 9000 to a 9700 about a week ago and I must say the trackpad is an awesome evolution of the trackball. No more problems w getting things under the ball and/or it stops strolling in one or more directions. The trackpad can be a little sensitive sometimes which takes a little adjustment, but its awesome!

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

NOT a debate. The trackball is bye bye.

Trackpad. Trackball is an endangered species and will be extinct as the trackwheel.

Unlike the trackball, the trackpad has no intrusion points for liquid, dirt, etc-which means a better change of your Blackberry having a long life with less maintenence.

Pad, pad, pad.

I used a Curve the other day. The ball seems like junk now.

The audible click I keep enabled on the trackpad helped make the transition even easier for me as I was used to a sound with the trackball. I liked the trackball but don't miss it at all. Plus every now and then it would stop tracking properly.

Once you've used the pad on a 9700, you'll settle for no less. I'm just waiting for "conversion kits" for Tours.

One of the reasons why I upgraded (from 9000).

Default trackpad, FTW

It's not even close - I went through three trackballs on my 8820 - it was a great phone but the balls easily collected grime even with extra attention to the BB's environment. Just seemed to be part of the trackball's existence, imho...

My trackpad (nearly 3 mos. in on a 9700) is flush with the rest of the phone's surface (and the fit and finish seem terrific to me) and I believe the performance and responsiveness is a major upgrade. The sensitivity and directional navigation are improved and I believe it will be a much sturdier component than the trackball was.

Time will tell, but I do note when using my GF's TOUR how the trackball seems like a downgrade now; less effective and less control.

Hope that helps.

Not so fast, guys. The trackpad is great, yes, but the issues I have with it is that sometimes you come across a trackpad that has one corner more recessed than the others, and that can bug you. Also, trackpads can have problems as well. With trackballs, they are so easy to fix by going on eBay and buying replacement trackballs for under two dollars, including shipping.
