Could you please help?

I purchased a BB Curve 8520 on Orange UK Pay as you go specifically so I would be able to use BB instant messenger - I never use email or any other data services. When I moved to Hungary recently, I found out that I am not able to use data services on roaming here because I am on a pay as you go option.

I have since been looking for other pay as you go options including global sims that support blackberry internet service and cannot seem to find anything here. Does anyone know of any sim that will allow me to use BB Instant messenger on a pay as you go basis in Hungary?

That's interesting. Is it Orange (I wonder) that won't provide data service in Hungary (if you are on PAYG) or are other factors involved.

My friend (who lives in the UK) who uses Vodafone, uses data services when roaming in Hungary (the phone is not on PAYG)

The Orange (international PAYG card) is supposed to work... from what I have read.

Thanks for the reply. It is indeed orange. After many hours spent on the phone with customer services trying to figure out what is wrong, they finally confirmed that they do not provide data services internationally for their PAYG customers So now I would like to find another PAYG option either here in Hungary - or on an international / global sim that provides this as signing up to a 24 month contract in hungary is not an option for me....

Ideas anyone?

The only PayG BlackBerry data plan I've heard of is Orange's. Unless somebody else is now offering this, a contract is your only option. I hear rumors that T-Mobile UK is planning BB data on a PayG basis, but nothing official has been released. And unfortunately Hungary is limited as far as BB services are concerned.

T mobile offer the pearl on PAYG, but i suspect they wont allow roaming data for it either.

Its probably more to do with RIM than the carrier. The data allowance for PAYG users is much lower than contract users as well.

From orange terms of service for blackberry:
"The Offer can only be used in the UK."
