Okay, I'm almost confident I'm going to sign up with T-Mobile (1000 minutes&mail plan, so I've got unlimted txt, browser, e-mail, etc.) and get a BlackBerry. However, I'm curious if anyone can tell me if T-Mobile gets excellent coverage or otherwise in the Rhode Island area, specifically, Providence, as I will be moving there in about six months.
I switched from Nextel and have not noticed a significant coverage difference. I am in CT and most places that I had coverage with Nextel also have coverage with T-Mobile.
Individual spots may have better coverage with one carrier than another. The only way to really know is to try the spots within your trial period or find someone with T-Mobile and see what the coverage is like.
If you're really curious you could also purchase a prepaid t-mobile phone (the nokia 6101 is nice and Target periodically has it for $90 on sale). If you decide to go t-moble, you can use the nokia as a backup phone since the sim will transfer directly to the nokia (ie the nokia is not locked to a prepaid only t-mobile sim -- though it is locked to the t-mobile network).
