Default BB 7280 and e-mail attachments

Please Login to Remove!

We have recently purchased 2 BB 7280 devices for 2 of our salespeople. One issue that has come up is that they do not seem to be able to open attachments within an e-mail. Does anyone know if the 7280 can handle this out of the box and if not, does anyone know of a good utility to make it work. They would need access to MS Word and Excel files. Also we are not using the BES instead we are using the Desktop Redirector software.

Thanks,
Al

Out of the box especially if the units are running handheld OS 3.7.1.41 or higher you should be able to view attachments? If you would like to be certain of your ability to view such documents as well as editing them take a look at eOffice from www.dynoplex.com

How do you open the attachments? If I have the e-mail open with the attachment in it there doesn't seem to be a menu option to let the user open the attachment. Unfortunatly I am not in the same location as the 2 salespeople so I physically do not have access to these devices to try and figure it out myself.

Opening attachments is not a functionality of Desktop Redirector. You need either a BES or BWC. Another functionality not available with Desktop Redirector is Wireless Email Reconciliation.

Are there any third party utilities out there that would allow this to work using the redirector? Does the web client work with MS Exchange e-mails?

You can use the BWC (Blackberry Web Client) in conjunction with an exchange server by having the exchange account forward a copy of the message to the BWC account. As long as you exchange settings allow aoto forwarding, this should work.

To open the attachment. Just scroll all the way down to where it shows the attachment, click the wheel, go to open attachment. So far only doc files I can figure out that open without eOffice so far.
